I do lots of garden work in the spring, summer and fall, during which I set my own schedule and will have time for walks and drop in visits during the day and evening, and in the winter I have even more time. I like to go on long walks every day, even when it's cold outside, so it is easy to fit dog walking into my schedule right now.

In your home, your dog or cat’s safety is my top priority. I'm very careful about keeping them from having access to anything they shouldn't eat, including keeping a lookout for stuff on the ground while on walks. I also will make sure they don't get outside if they're not supposed to (mainly applying to cats), or into any off-limits areas in your house. I'm very attentive to their needs and will watch out for any changes in behavior that could indicate something is wrong. If I'm uncertain about anything relating to your animals needs or safety I won't hesitate to ask questions and contact you if needed. I try to maintain a calm, gentle and loving presence--playful at times too!--and firm when needed. I really want your pet to feel at ease and content in my care.

I'd like to know if there are any behaviors you want me to keep an eye out for and if there are any commands you're working on with your dog and/or specific commands that you would like me to use with your dog. Are there any specific noises that trigger your dog, or anything else that upsets/ triggers them that I should know about? Does your pet have any specific needs surrounding meals? Any appetite issues-- do they ever need encouragement or something added on top of their food to get them to eat? (Also I'll want to make sure I know where you keep towels that I should use on your dog if needed.)
A typical day
I want to make sure that pets I care for have plenty opportunities for enrichment and getting their daily exercise needs met. I will spend time playing with their favorite toys and also providing stimulating activities such as licking mats or foraging toys, if that is something your dog uses. I'll take your dog on a long walk (as long as they have the energy!) and allow them to take their time in exploring all of the different scents outside. I'll also spend plenty of time just hanging out, petting and snuggling with your pets, as long as that's something they enjoy.

Pet care experience
I've lived with cats and dogs my whole life, but I also have experience caring for other animals such as chickens, rats and even goats! During the past four years, I have done in-home pet sitting regularly and have gotten to know a variety of dogs and cats, all with varying personalities and care needs, in terms of exercise, enrichment, feeding routines, etc.. As a pet owner, I know how much our pets mean to us, and I know it can be scary to leave them in the care of a new person. I take this responsibility seriously and will be honored to be a small part of your pet's life. It's important to me that your animal feels safe and taken care of with me. I will pay close attention to any cues from your pet that they need something, and will do my best to earn their trust. I will send pictures or videos and do everything I can to ensure that you don't have to worry about your pet while you are away from them.
