Every morning, I start my day by feeding my pet and making sure it has fresh water. If I have a dog, I take it for a walk before I begin my own tasks for the day. During the week, I make time to play with my pet to keep it active and happy, even if it’s just for a few minutes in the evening. I also clean up after my pet regularly, whether it’s scooping the litter box or cleaning a cage or food area. On weekends, I do deeper cleaning and grooming, like brushing fur or trimming nails. Taking care of a pet adds structure to my schedule and reminds me to be responsible and caring every day.

Safety, trust & environment

I make sure they are fed on schedule, have fresh water at all times, and receive plenty of attention, whether through play, walks, or simply companionship. If I’m pet sitting or doing drop-in visits, I follow the client’s instructions carefully—this includes feeding routines, medications if needed, and keeping their environment clean and safe. For dogs, I take them out for regular walks and ensure they get exercise and bathroom breaks. For cats or other animals, I check litter boxes or cages daily and maintain their comfort and hygiene. I also communicate regularly with clients, giving updates and photos to provide peace of mind while they’re away.

Information Maria V. would like to know about your pet

First, I like to know the pet’s daily routine—feeding schedule, walking times, and any special habits or preferences. I also ask about their temperament: Are they friendly with strangers, kids, or other animals? Do they have any fears or triggers, like loud noises or certain objects? It’s also essential to know about any medical conditions, allergies, or if they take medications. Finally, I ask about their favorite toys or activities and anything that helps them feel relaxed while their owner is away. Knowing all this helps me provide care that feels familiar and comforting to the pet.

A typical day

For dogs, I enjoy going on walks, playing fetch, tug-of-war, or letting them run around in a safe, fenced yard if available. If they like learning, I’ll also spend time practicing simple commands or tricks with treats. For cats, I use toys like feathers, laser pointers, or balls to keep them active and entertained. I also give them plenty of cuddle time if they enjoy being petted. I try to match the activity to the pet’s personality and energy level—whether that means playtime or just relaxing together. Keeping them happy and engaged is always my goal.

Maria was very comfortable with our 2 dogs. She had a space prepared for them to calmly and safely acclimate to their new surroundings. We were able to fully enjoy our mini vacation without worrying about how the dogs were doing. She had everything ready and waiting for us when we went to pick the dogs. I felt like she really cared for our dogs , making sure they had plenty of outdoor time as well as inside attention. We will definitely use Maria again!
