Overall, everything went smoothly, and my cat was well taken care of. However, compared to other sitters I’ve used through Rover, I did feel that communication could have been much better. During the full week my cat was under her care, I usually only received one photo or a short video per day, and almost always only after I asked for an update. For the first three days, I had to message first every time to receive any information about how my cat was doing. I would have appreciated more proactive communication, regular updates, and a few more photos or videos, especially during a longer stay. Messages also often took several hours to be answered. This is meant as constructive feedback, as I’ve had several other Rover sitters before and noticed a significant difference in the level of communication. If this is the sitter’s usual communication style, I think it’s something that should be made clear beforehand so owners know what to expect. The only other thing I wasn’t completely happy with was the pickup. Instead of seeing my cat relaxed inside the house before leaving, he was already put in his carrier when I arrived. He was crying, meowing, and seemed quite stressed, and he remained anxious until we got home. I don’t think this is the ideal way to end a boarding stay. That said, my cat came home safely, and I appreciate the care he received during the week.
