Pet care experience

Work from home loving dog mama!

Hi there! My name is Maria and my dog Beanie and I are very proud residents of Walnut Hills. We both love exercise, being outdoors, and seeing our human and canine friends while we walk around the neighborhood. Previously, I was a long term foster (almost two years) to a rescue, Louie, who suffered from medical issues due to neglect and required daily medication so I am comfortable giving oral medication to pets. I work full time from home so I am home all day, though I sometimes step out to walk dogs in the neighborhood around lunchtime. I am also a "legal dogmother" for my friends -- yes, I am responsible to take care of their dogs in their will. I have experience working with with dogs who are reactive to other dogs, as well as a dog with severe protective instincts and fear of new people. I also have experience with dogs who are experiencing separation anxiety and noise fear. If you have a dog that may have some "quirks" I like to let the dog show me how they feel most safe with their surroundings and let them take lead as long as other animals, people, and I are all safe. Time, patience, and plenty of tender loving care (and maybe some treats along the way) are all great motivators to making your pet safe and happy in their space! Please note: pickup/drop off times are 7:30 am to 10 pm. If you need pickup outside of these times, please book for the evening before or morning after. Additionally, my boyfriend Chris will be present during boardings and will provide additional love and attention to pets! But I provide all care (feeding, walks, etc).

Maria was amazing! Before we officially booked, she invited Hazy over to make sure that she got along with her dog Beanie and that she was familiar with Maria and her place. She was super responsive and adorable when we met! I trust her very much! I got married and she brought Hazy to the ceremony for photos and that was simply amazing and so so helpful! Thank you Maria! You rock!

Schedule

I work from home during the day so I have plenty of daytime availability and flexibility for love, cuddles, playtime, and walks. For dogs that board at my house, they generally go out morning before breakfast (8am), lunchtime (12-1 pm), after work/early evening (5 pm) and before bedtime (9-10 pm). I do not have a fenced yard, so a dog that needs off leash playtime wouldn't be the best fit for boarding at my home. However I am able to provide plenty of walk time.

Safety, trust & environment

I care for all pets how I would expect a sitter to care for my own dog. I keep a clean home and do not allow things to be left on the floor for safety reasons. All closet doors and cabinets are closed at all times, shoes are kept in the closet, and I don't leave anything on the floor that dogs can get into. All of my doors have a storm door or a screen to make sure that animals cannot make a quick getaway! I also do not allow dogs to be off-leash outdoors while in my care unless they are in a fenced area.

Pets

A typical day

I right next to Eden Park and often take my dog through the woods and then on a walk around the fountain. I live on a quiet street with plenty of friendly neighbors. My neighborhood is very walking friendly and there is lots of greenspace in the park next door, my own dog loves to roll around in the grass.

Daily routine, likes/dislikes, commands, how the dog does on leash, how the dog interacts with other dogs and people, mealtime routines, and bedtime routines are important to know! I want to make sure the dog is as comfortable as possible in my care. Please note I am not able to offer constant (24/7 uninterrupted) care services.
