Caring for all animals since age 8!
I have taken care of cats and dogs my whole adult life, and even before then! I adopted my first cat at age 8 and loved him immensely. At age 10, my dad brought home a golden retriever, and although he was my brother's dog, I was the one who walked him every night. At age 18, I adopted a bunny after my friends and I watched a man dump a litter of domesticated rabbit babies in a park. One month after moving in with my husband, we adopted a kitten born feral. Over the last 2 decades, we have adopted 6 more kittens, most of them also born feral. 17 years ago, we brought home our first puppy and I vowed then to be a dog-mom for life. After she passed, I wasted no time adopting another, and we currently have 2 dogs, 4 cats, and a turtle! Our turtle is a 20+ year old who we brought in 6 years ago when his previous owners didn't want him anymore. We have also raised 2 additional bunnies several years ago when my kids were small.

I was so happy to be able to find someone on such short notice. We were pleased with her services. Immediately upon meeting her she showed such compassion to my babies who were very shy and afraid of new surroundings. They eventually adjusted and Mari was patient with them. She also sent me pictures of them which put me at ease. I would definitely use her services again. Thanks Mari.
Winnie had a great time at Mari’s and even though she is all puppy- she seemed to acclimate and be right at home when I went to pick her up!! I was impressed by Mari’s patience and understanding since having a 7mo old lab is ALOT!! I hope to use her again!!
Great experience! She was very flexible and took great care of William. He did very well on his extended visit and she was easy to communicate and work with would totally book this sitter again!

Schedule
I have a 9am-3pm Monday through Friday work schedule, so I am pretty flexible for feeding and letting dogs out to potty before and after work.

Safety, trust & environment
Since we do not have a fenced yard, we have our dogs on a lead, but we do not leave them outside unsupervised due to neighbors and other animals who wander the neighborhood. Our animals roam free in the house during the day when we are home, but at night or when we are gone we will put certain animals in their respective "safe zones". In a client's home I respect whatever their wishes are for caring for their pets.
Pets
A typical day
I'm up around 6:30am and take care of feeding all the animals before anything else. Dogs go outside to potty first thing. I will leave for work around 9, but my husband works from home if they need to be let out during the day. I get home around 3, and everyone gets a walk. Depending on how well they walk on a leash, I usually only walk one dog at a time. Dogs are allowed on the furniture here, so our evenings are usually spent together on the couch, or if it's nice outside, on the back deck. If a dog is playful, she/he will get the attention they crave. My own dog is a ball hound, so I understand their need for stimulation.

- I prefer for dogs to arrive with a harness and leash. Collars are easy for dogs to maneuver out of, but a harness is more secure and gives me peace of mind.
