Safety, trust & environment

I will not be able to provide services in my home. When caring for pets in their own home, I prioritize safety, consistency, and comfort above all else. I follow your routines closely so your dog feels secure and supported, and I maintain a calm, structured environment that helps even the most sensitive pups settle in. You can trust that your home and your pets will be treated with the utmost respect. I communicate clearly, provide updates, and ensure every part of your pet’s care, from feeding and walks to meds, enrichment, and downtime, is handled responsibly and with love. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind while offering your pet reliable, reputable care from someone who genuinely understands and loves dogs of all temperaments.

Information Margaret S. would like to know about your pet

To make sure your dog feels safe, supported, and understood, it’s helpful for me to learn as much as I can about their personality and routine ahead of time. Some things that are especially useful to know include: Personal Space Preferences: Whether your dog guards food, toys, beds, or people, and what signs to look for so I can respect their boundaries and keep everyone comfortable. Specific Likes & Dislikes: Favorite toys, games, safe spots in the house, as well as things that make them nervous—such as loud noises, fast movements, or certain handling. Walking Behavior: How your dog behaves on leash, whether they pull, stop frequently, or react to other dogs, people, bikes, or squirrels. This helps me plan calm, safe walks. Dog/Cat Friendliness: How they typically react to other animals, both at home and out in public, so I can avoid stressful encounters. Stranger Danger or Shyness: If your dog is timid, slow to warm up, or wary of new people, I’ll adjust my approach with extra patience and gentle introductions. Dietary Preferences & Restrictions: Their regular meal routine, approved treats, sensitivities, allergies, and any medications or supplements they take. Knowing these details helps me tailor my care to your dog’s specific needs and create the most positive, predictable experience possible.

A typical day

A typical day with your dog is all about meeting their needs, keeping their routine consistent, and making sure they feel happy, safe, and engaged. We start with a relaxed morning check-in, breakfast, and a nice walk, often to a nearby park so your pup can sniff, explore, and enjoy the fresh air. Throughout the day, I balance physical activity with mental stimulation. This might include puzzle toys, enrichment games, training refreshers, or simple problem-solving activities tailored to your dog’s comfort level. If appropriate for their personality and behavior, I may incorporate low-stress social outings, like a quiet patio or a calm neighborhood walk, to keep things interesting. Playtime, both indoors and outdoors, is always part of the routine. Whether your dog loves fetch, tug, sniffy walks, or gentle cuddle sessions, I follow their lead to make sure they feel fulfilled. Treats are given in appropriate amounts and used to reinforce good manners and create positive experiences. Evenings wind down with more play, a walk, and plenty of calm time so your dog can relax and settle in. My goal is for your pup to feel safe, loved, and understood from morning to night.

Pet care experience

I’m an experienced dog foster with years of hands-on work caring for dogs of all ages, breeds, and personalities. I’ve personally owned dogs in the past, and I currently foster for rescue organizations, specializing in dogs with unique behavioral needs. I have extensive experience with shy and fearful dogs, as well as pups who are leash reactive, barrier reactive, or dog reactive. I approach every dog with patience, calm energy, and an understanding of body language to help them feel safe and supported. Because of my foster background, I’m comfortable handling everything from snuggly couch potatoes to high-energy working breeds. Big or small, nervous or confident—your dog will be in capable, compassionate hands. Whether I’m house sitting or providing drop-in care, I focus on keeping dogs’ routines consistent, giving them structured support, and making sure they feel at home. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and emotional well-being are always my top priorities.

Maggie took great care of Whiskey and was very respectful of our home. I appreciated all of the pictures she sent of him.

I can’t recommend Maggie enough! She is my go to person for dog sitting and walking. She treats my dog as if he were her own and always prioritizes his needs before anything else. She's also an excellent communicator so I always feel like I can reach out for updates and pictures while we're away. I always know my pup is in the best hands with Maggie and cannot thank her for enough!

I cannot recommend Maggie enough! She takes amazing care of my dog, Ziggy, and truly goes above and beyond. She takes him on long walks on the BeltLine (his favorite), gives him so much love and attention, and I always feel completely at ease when he’s with her. She’s incredibly flexible, especially when my flights are delayed, which has been such a lifesaver. Maggie has even picked Ziggy up from and dropped him off at the groomers, which speaks volumes about how thoughtful and reliable she is. Whether she’s staying at my apartment or taking Ziggy to hers, I know he’s safe, happy, and so well cared for. Ziggy absolutely adores her, and so do I. She’s truly awesome!
