I have had pets all my life; dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, snakes... and my child has grown up with dogs and cats and chickens. We don't have any pets currently and we miss having animals around the house. We would love to take care of your furry friends so I hope you'll give us a chance. I have a car and can pick up or drop off your pet as needed. We have an apt with no yard but I've always been in the habit of walking my dogs when I've had them in the past. We can provide bathroom breaks as needed and at least one long walk a day. We live on the second floor, so if your dog can't make it up the stairs they have to be small enough I can carry them. I don't mind if the animals get on the furniture, but we'll respect your rules if staying off the furniture is important to you. If your dog needs meds I can handle that. I will be the primary caregiver but my 13-year old loves to help out. I have had some dog training - I picked up a stray dog years ago and he bit 4 out of 5 of my friends, including me. So, I got a dog trainer who trained me how to be the alpha using the same techniques as Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. That dog turned out to be one of the best dogs I ever had - his name was Jack.

Amazing, had a missed flight and provided amazing accommodations.
Meg was wonderful and took excellent care of our (sometimes grumpy!) dog, Bruno. She has extensive experience with animals of all temperaments, was consistently responsive to messages, and proactively sent daily updates. While we were away, we had abundant peace of mind that Bruno was doing well and in caring hands. Most tellingly, when Meg dropped him off, Bruno was more interested in sniffing her and her car rather than saying hi to us, which to us epitomizes how great of a time he had in Meg’s care. She was very accommodating, generally as well as with drop off / pick-up, understanding of Bruno’s odd tendencies, and happy to indulge his absolute obsession with fetch. We will certainly be reaching out again in the future when we next need someone to look after our pup.

This was our second stay with Margaret and her daughter and it was a wonderful experience from drop off to pick up! Junior has some behavorial "quirks" and Margaret knew how to keep him happy and safe. Her photos and updating communications made it easy for me to enjoy my vacation with family without worrying or thinking about how Junior was doing. I know I found the perfect place for Junior when I have to leave him home. I intend to book with Margaret again and would ABSOLUTELY recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable caring sitter who treats your dog or cat like they're theirs!
This was the first time in four years Junior and I have been apart. As a rescue he has some behavorial quiks and I wasn't sure someone else could take care of him. Needing to board him I was happy to find Margaret and her daughter. From the "meet and greet" I felt comfortable and confident they would. I even booked his next stay. Margaret is a caring and capable caregiver . . . even with a dog like Junior. Knowing I was concerned and nervous she sent updates and photos showing me I made the correct choice. I'm sure you'd feel the same when you choose her.

Planning
I'm an artist and educator and have some flexibility in my schedule - sometimes I work from home. My child and I will take great care of your pet. We can bring them out to the driveway to play fetch, and we're open to going to Prospect Park once we get to know them better. I wake up around 7am in the summer months and can take your dog out for a long walk in the morning, usually 30-40 mins, while it's cool outside. I will take your dog for walks every four hours or as needed after that. The afternoon and evening walks are typically shorter, maybe 15-20 min. and we try to stay on the shady side of the street during the day. I can only watch one big dog at a time. If you have two smaller dogs, that would probably be okay.

We don't have a yard, so we will walk your pet in the morning, afternoon and evening. Our landlord lives below us, so it would be best if your dog is okay being home by itself on days I have to work. Our last dog used to howl when we left the house. That kind of situation won't work in this apartment. We will offer lots of love and snuggles. We haven't had a dog since 2022 and my daughter and I miss that relationship very much. Cats are great, too and we're happy to care for your cat! If they love to snuggle we will be happy to provide that love. If your cat is more aloof we understand and will respect their personal space. I have one litter box, I would ask that you provide the litter.

Your sweet dog will go on at least three walks a day. Once we get to know your dog better we would be willing to take them to the park. My child has been enjoying playing fetch/catch with the dogs in the house or in the fenced in driveway. We're happy to brush your dog if you bring a brush, and we'll be affectionate toward them while they are in our care. If you have a cat(s) that needs boarding - we likes cats! We will let your cat(s) hide until they're ready to come out and socialize and then we'll do our best to accommodate their personality. We are happy to provide cuddles, play with them or give them space, whatever they need.
