Availability

My schedule is generally flexible and can accommodate most needs. I’m currently enrolled in a virtual masters program and work from home, so I can provide pets a high level of attention and care. Pets in boarding/daycare in my home participate in all of our family activities (so long as they are pet safe). I also enjoy exercising and will take dogs in my care on long walks, nature hikes and outdoor activities. Note: My calendar is generally kept up to date, but I sometimes get last minute request that I haven’t had time to update in my Rover calendar. So it is always best to reach out to confirm my availability.

Safety, trust & environment

I work to ensure my home environment is safe for both my resident cat and the animals in my care. - Boarded dogs will sleep either with or near me and have constant access to their bed, food, water and toys. - My backyard is big, open and partially fenced, allowing for supervised and tethered play. - Boarded cats will have exclusive access to my office, where they can eat, sleep and retreat into, if they wish. They are also encouraged to explore the rest of my home, as they wish. Please note: I do not allow my resident cat to interact with boarding cat(s) for everyone’s happiness and safety. To ensure engagements are safe and positive: 1) I require all new boarding and house sitting clients to have an introductory phone call with me before finalizing booking requests AND before meeting in person (if appropriate). - I also strongly advise that we have an in-person meeting at your home for all pet sitting engagements. 2) I have a resident cat and as such, all boarding / daycare pets must be cat safe, have low prey drive and/or have low reactivity.

Information Margaret B. would like to know about your pet

I like to know about your pet’s background and basic temperament; are they friendly, fearful, energetic, reactive etc. I like to know what training (if any) they’ve had, the commands and redirects you use. I will ask about what motivates your pet as well as their triggers. I take into account the breed, age and physical level of your pet and will customize their experiences accordingly. I also ask about dietary needs, allergies, medical conditions or special medications. Depending on owner expectations and the complexity of the engagement, I may ask for an orientation session and/or 1:1 time with your pet(s) before the engagement to ensure that your pet is comfortable with me and that I’m following your directions.

A typical day

I try to mirror your cat or dog’s typical day as much as possible by following their normal routine. When sitting or boarding, I try to build in time for rest, solo play and interactive play. I love providing fun activities that move bodies and stimulate minds.

Margaret and her family took great care of our dog Chip! She's clearly experienced in pet sitting, and made sure Chip had lots of activities and cuddle time. She gave us frequent, detailed updates--which we requested and really appreciated! I'll definitely be booking with Margaret any time we need boarding in the future.

Margaret was wonderful! From the moment I reached out she was on top of her communications and was very helpful with making us feel at ease with boarding our puppy. She provided a checklist for his stay which was extremely helpful and she answered all the quesitons we had in a timely manner. While our puppy was at her house, she checked in daily and sent photos which we greatly appreciated. Margaret also went the extra mile and made recommendations for useful training tips and tools for our puppy. We will be boarding our puppy again with her in a few weeks!

Margaret was an amazing caretaker for our 6-month old puppy while we were away for four nights! From the very first interaction we had together—a detailed phone call reviewing all of our preferences and needs and approaches and philosophies—to frequent and detailed communication (with photos!) of how our dog's visit was going, we felt at every turn that we—and our pup—were in the absolute best of hands. Thank you, Margaret! We, and Fred, will be back =)
