Vet Tech of 16 years Pet Care

Hello fellow animal lovers! I am in my 40's with no human children of my own, so I have a Iot of love to give and lots of extra time to do what I love. I was in the Veterinary field for 20 years and a Vet Technician for 16 years. As rewarding as it was, it was also a very stressful environment and very sad at times, so I've decided to do what so many of my colleagues have done and start my own business caring for other people's pets. I feel this is the next step in my career. Utilizing my skills to further advance myself and becoming my own boss while still do what I love. This way I am not the bad guy. They have no reason to he scared of me. They are in their own homes, getting to play with their favorite toys, dogs get to go on walks, and being consoled by their substitute human parent while their actual human parents are away! It is something I've wanted to do full time for a long time and now I finally have the opportunity. So far, it's only gotten better and better. For anyone who has multiple pets (3 or more) I am more than willing to adjust my rates especially for long visits (a week or more) or for 30-60 minute drop-in visits, I typically will not charge my full rate for 3 or more pets. I will give you a flat rate per hour depending on the work involved and how long it will take me. For example, someone with 10 cats, I will not charge per cat (unless every cat needs meds or has special needs) as long as they are healthy and don't all have special needs. Same with several dogs. Drop-in visits that have several healthy dogs and I just need to be let outside, I will not charge per dog. I'll just give you a flat rate. When I started Rover for the second time back in October 2023, I was still working two part time jobs to make ends meet. Business has gotten so good for me and my clientele has grown so much, that I now am doing Rover full time and have several repeat clients that I absolutely adore! I was a little leary at first because I have seen some crazy pet owners over the years, but I have been blessed with some of the most awesome people I have ever had the privilege of working for. I always consider the clients' needs as well as the pets' needs before they leave their beloved pets in my care. It is important that everyone feels comfortable so no one has to endure unneeded stress. In order for no one to have to deal with unnecessary stress, I feel it is critical to have a meet and greet before booking and confirming a housesitting. You, the client must feel comfortable with the whoever is caring for your beloved pets as well as staying in your house while you are away. And me, the sitter must feel comfortable with the pet I am sitting for and whose house that I am staying. I need to know the typical feeding, walking, activity routine, as well as where things are, such as food, bowls, leashes, litter boxes, toys, treats, emergency contact and vet info, etc. A meet and greet allows both you, the client and me, the sitter important details that will ultimately determine the success of the sitting. The more I know about what you and your pet need from me and expect of me, the more likely I can meet up to your expectations. I try to keep the daily routine as close to normal as can be. Therefore, your pets will be comfortable. The more details you give me, the less stressed everyone will be and you can leave knowing your pets are content without you there. They will always miss you, but my goal is for them to have little to no stress. Therefore, a meet and greet is critical. However, there are times when it isn't possible and you need to leave immediately. In that case, I just ask for open lines of communication or a local emergency contact person, such as a neighbor or family member that can answer any question or concern I have at any time. My entire life, I have always had pets. Mostly cats, but we had a couple dogs growing up as well. Currently at my house, my long term boyfriend and I have 3 chihuahuas and my old cat. He is my pride and joy. He was a rescue from a Vet Clinic in Tennessee where I used to work 15 years ago. I have never had a stronger bond with an animal than I do with that cat. In recent years, I now have a new perspective on chihuahuas. Never did realize how smart and sweet they are. They definitely have a person that they favor and in some cases, protect. That is where they can get a bad reputation but if you address any aggressiveness immediately, you can have a really good dog. All of mine have different personalities, but are all incredibly affectionate and friendly to anyone. I've learned to treat them like dogs and not babies. It is a lot healthier for everyone. Since I have a pretty flexible schedule, I can work around yours when setting up a meet and greet, doing drop-in visits, or dog walking. I can do weekdays or weekends, early or late. Two years ago, I bought a new electric car so I will most likely not break down and can assure reliability that I will be at your house on time. Due to my Veterinary backround, I am highly skilled when taking care of senior pets who need daily meds, diabetic pets who need insulin twice daily and any other special needs. I am very observant if a pet doesn't seem to be acting right. Limping, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or depression, I notice right away. I will call you immediately and will not hesitate to bring them to your Vet clinic or the Emergency Vet depending on the severity of the problem and time of day. I will discuss it with you and give my recommendation before I race to the Emergency Vet. They are very expensive and will not go for an ear infection (I've seen it happen but not by me. Haha) I will wait until the following day and take them to your Vet. I have enough sense to know what can wait and what is a legitimate emergency. Working with animals have always been my passion and calling. I grew up with mostly cats and have been referred to as the "Cat Whisperer" or "Crazy Cat Lady" due to my gentle handling, patience, love, and understanding of cats. Dogs are great too. You can somewhat reason with most dogs. I am not afraid nor do I have prejudice of any breed. I love big dogs, extra big dogs, and tiny dogs too. I've also had a good amount of experience caring for and working with exotic pets. I'm comfortable around almost anything, except tarantulas or any bug. I don't like spiders or bugs. I can help with basic training and basic commands. I taught my chihuahuas and a dog I had as a teenager. I am patient and consistent. Positive reinforcement is my preferred method of training. I can't wait to meet you and your furry kids very soon! Even if you don't have any plans to leave town, I'd love to schedule a meet and greet so we can meet and possibly make plans with me in future. I'm here for your pets, but I'm also here for your convenience and peace of mind.

Safety, trust & environment

In my own home, my dogs and cat get so much love and attention. They are completely spoiled but they reciprocate the love I give them through their play and the fact that they are very obedient. (Although, the cat sneaks on the counter when I'm not looking sometimes. Lol) My chihuahuas are very playful and love to play with toys, but my chihuahua mix, just loves to go for walks and runs. The cat loves to cuddle no matter where I am. I am used to animals 24/7 and my life wouldn't be fulfilled if it wasn't about animals 24/7.

Maren was the best part of our vacation for our elderly dog. It was so nice that she was able to check in on him and know that he was being taken care of. I gave me a lot of peace of mind.

Schedule

I am currently doing housesittings, drop in visits, and walks full time. This month is my slow month so I am welcoming any and every booking with open arms. I have plenty of time to spend with your fur babies. Since the weather is nice, I would love to take them on walks or just throw the ball outside.

I just need to know the basics like what they like as far as favorite toys, treats, and allergies. Training your dog has had helps me when walking and any triggers to avoid while walking. If there are any medical conditions I need to be aware of and medications with instructions your pets may need. I also need to know how much food and how often they eat. Most importantly, a contact number and address for their veterinarian and preferred emergency vet.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
