I have two years of professional pet and house sitting experience at this time, and a lifetime of care for my own animals and those of friends and neighbors - beloved dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, chickens, ducks. I love them all - domestic and wild, flying, fishy and furry. I'm a semi-retired educator and artist, reimagining my life now that my children are grown and flown. I love the way pet and house sitting fits the rhythm of my days, and I especially love the companionship, the sweetness and joy I receive from working with all the critters. I am particularly skilled with anxious animals. I am happy to accommodate medications and special diets and routines. I'm a reliable, available, joyful human and a solid, clear communicator, easy to reach with prompt responses via text or email.

I will respect your home and privacy. I consider a person's home their sacred sanctuary and I will treat your space with thoughtful, loving care. I have decades of experience in hospitality at my family's rental cabins in northern Michigan. I will take care of your space as well as I take care of your critters.

Mardi was great with Jenny. She took her time and let Jenny warm up to her so she'd feel safe. She sent photos of Jenny and updates during our overnight away. Mardi was also very flexible when we decided to come home a day early. Good grief, our house looked pristine!
Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!
Mardi was great with my senior dog and anxious younger dog. She left them extremely tired!

Mardi is a stellar housesitter! She has raised and loved many pets herself, and we always relax the minute we book her to fill in for us when we travel. She has taken perfect care of our house and beloved cat and dog several times now, including two multi-week trips out of the country. Our dog was a nervous new rescue the first time, and we came home to find him significantly more confident —and quieter on the leash—than when we left. The house is always immaculate and the animals thriving when we return. Mardi has our highest recommendation!
Mardi is the most responsible and caring pet sitter we have ever had. We have always come home to find our pets happy and healthy, with full water bowls and clean litter, and the house cleaner than we left it. She is fabulous with our 3 dogs, and gentle and loving with our aging cat. She took extra care with our guinea pig with a tumor the week before his surgery (he's fine), and took extra steps to try to cure our goldfish while we were out of town (which meant a lot to our kid). Mardi goes above and beyond and we feel very lucky to have her to rely on. We recommend Mardi wholeheartedly to anyone in need of a pet sitter!

Schedule
This is my main thing, not a side hustle. I think animals generally do better in their own homes. I'm honored to provide safety and comfort and a measure of normalcy when things feel upside down while their people are away. I prefer longer stays of three days or more so I can settle in with your critters; I am willing to drive longer distances for longer stays. And I’m more than happy to pop by for a weekend! I’m willing to do short-notice gigs if I’m available so don’t hesitate to ask. I enjoy new places, new experiences and new faces. I look forward to meeting you and your precious ones.
