I have taken care of dogs since I was a child. I trained my family dog (a german shepard/collie mix), and regularly fed, walked and bathed our house pet. I trained our dog how to sit, laydown, fetch and go on walks. I spent extra time training on walking, to ensure our dog would not pull and bark, but have focused exercise walks, stopping and sitting on command to enure a safety. I frequently exercised, played games, and went on hikes with our dog. I set up mini obstacles in the yard to encourage our dog to jump over and go under tunnels as we played fetch to enrich the experience. As our family dog aged, I made sure to alter our walks to shorts distances, take things slow, and allow our dog breaks to ensure she made it home exercised but not overworked. As our dog lost her eyesight, I included breaks in our walks to allow her to investigate new scents and parks that she might not be able to see. I now have a cat, that I feed and care for in my home.
