Pet care experience
Rittenhouse/Grad Hospital support
I’ve had dogs in my home my entire life, and caring for them is something I take seriously. I live in Graduate Hospital/Rittenhouse with my seven-year-old Boston Terrier, Gizmo, and have been a dog owner through it all — city living, special needs, the works. Because Gizmo has separation anxiety, I understand firsthand what it means to care for a dog with extra needs and I genuinely love the attentiveness that requires. I’m home most of the time, which means your dog won’t be spending long stretches alone. I’m experienced with senior dogs and special needs dogs, and can administer oral medications — so if your pup has complex care needs, you’re in good hands. Gizmo is incredibly friendly and has lived happily with other dogs, so your pup will have a built-in buddy during their stay. When it comes to walks, I let dogs sniff and explore at their own pace — what some people call a “snifari.” I’ll also work in some focus and skill practice along the way, so they come home mentally tired and well-walked. I treat every dog like family — lots of photos, regular updates, and the kind of care you’d want for your own pet.

Ratings and reviews
Mara was incredible! She looked after our highly anxious dog for a full day, and our dog had an amazing time. This was the first time we left our dog with someone else, and she gave us frequent updates and worked with us to make sure our dog was set up for success

Mara was very kind and communicative. I can tell my dog was in good hands with her! We got frequent updates and planning everything was very easy and straight forward. Thanks, Mara!!

Mara is wonderful! She put our somewhat nervous dog at ease, and Juno was calm and happy when we took her home. I am especially appreciative of Mara’s flexibility; we arrived earlier than we said and then left later. We were in town to attend a graduation which, of course, took much longer than we anticipated. I was so glad to know that Juno was in good hands!

Mara is so thoughtful! She has been so helpful with getting Tate adjusted to his new home by making sure he has structure and a good routine when she is taking care of him.

Mara and Gizmo have been excellent (and welcoming) host to my dog, Kong! Kong is a timid dog with rescue history that is a new transplant to Philly, and Mara & Gizmo made him feel right at home. Thank you!!!

Great as always!

Calendar and availability
Schedule
I make my own schedule so I can prioritize care of your pup—especially if you provide notice! Being a dog owner myself, I know sometimes you need care last minute. Don’t hesitate to message me—I’ll find a way to make it work so your pup is cared for while your away!

Safety, trust & environment
I care for pets with attentiveness, kindness, and patience. For boarding, I keep a close eye on how the dogs interact and give everyone space to get comfortable with plenty of chews. For house sitting, I treat your home with respect and stick to your dog’s routine as closely as possible.

A typical day
My goal is for your pup to end each day happy and tired. That means walks, belly rubs, potty breaks, play that involves some mental stimulation and sometimes a good cuddle on the couch. If you dog likes certain day or night activities, I’ll be sure to prioritize that.
