Safety, trust & environment

I have experience, and enjoy caring for pets with special needs: paralysis, incontinence, deafness, special diets, medications and more. Our home is well air conditioned so heat sensitive breeds will be safe and comfortable during the warmer months. I accept small, medium, and large breed dogs under 75lbs. If they are comfortable with each other, different sizes of dogs spend downtime all together, but playtime is carefully coordinated between similar sized dogs. Medium/large dogs have access inside and out at their leisure. Small dogs are supervised outside at all times. What should I bring for their stay? The only thing they require is their food and a collar or harness. For their first stay I suggest bringing an old blanket or towel that smells like home. If your dog uses their kennel as a safe space or is used to a different type than the wire crates that we have it is a good idea to bring that for them. I also recommend trimming their nails before they come, it gives them better traction on our laminate floors and keeps playtime safer. A note about kennels/crates Many dogs love their crates (including ours) and find them a comfortable and safe space but no dog staying in our home is required to be crate trained or is shut in one if they are uncomfortable with them. For safety reasons, dogs from different families are kept completely separate when I leave the house to run errands. I have limited safe spaces for uncrated dogs to stay and therefore a limited number of openings for dogs who are not crate trained. If your dog is not crate trained I recommend booking as far in advance as possible because those openings book quickly.

Information Mandee P. would like to know about your pet

All dogs in my care are required to be fully up to date on vaccinations and current on flea medications. If you cannot provide proof of vaccination, including Bordetella, I will not approve the stay. It is also important to note that I have two children (13 and 15 years old) and, although they are dog savvy, this may not be a good fit for every dog. Every dog has his quirks and your dog's stay will be more enjoyable for everyone if I know them from the start. Are they food aggressive? Do they get anxious when left alone? Are they older and get fed up with more playful, younger dogs? Can they open doors? Do they go through cupboards in search of food? (our food cupboards can be shut with magnet locks if necessary) Are they an escape artist? Every dog is different and it is helpful to know in advance how best to care for them and keep them safe.

A typical day

Dogs are a part of my life and my routine. I wake up with them in and around my bed, cuddle with them on the couch while I drink coffee, play with them while I garden. They sit at my feet while I work on schoolwork with my kids and fall asleep with me at night. My goal is that our home becomes your dog's home away from home!

A Dog's Country Retreat

Pet care experience

Why kennel your best friend when you can leave them with a loving family? I have been a full time Rover sitter for nine years. My job is caring for your dog and I aim to give them the best care possible. My home is very dog friendly, dogs spend the day (and night!) with us, not separate from us. They are allowed on beds and furniture. I also have a large, fully fenced 1.4 acre property so whether your dog is active and adventurous, a snugly couch potato, or something in between they will feel right at home! I do my best to meet and assess each dog's temperament before their stay to ensure I have the space and resources to make each guest comfortable. Meet and Greets are required. Staying in my home is a very social experience, akin to living in a dog park, and may not be the right fit for every dog. Let's Meet! Click on the Contact me button above so we can set up a Meet and Greet, I look forward to meeting you and your pets.

My dog loves staying with Mandee. He has so much fun playing with the other dogs that stay. He doesn’t even care I’m leaving him. It makes leaving him easier knowing he will be well taken care of and have fun.

Mandee has watched Oly while I have gone on vacation multiple times now and she is the best! He has such a blast while staying with her, she is very responsive and so caring. I can’t thank her enough for making it so easy to leave him while i’m away.

Bodhi enjoyed his stay with Mandee! The warm family atmosphere made me feel that Bodhi would be well cared for. Mandee sent pictures of Bodhi hanging with her girls. He is a smaller dog and a co-sleeper, his sleeping needs were met! Thank You To Mandee and her family! Bodhi will be back..
