A Dog's Country Retreat
Pet care experience
Why kennel your best friend when you can leave them with a loving family? My full time job is caring for your dog, and it is my goal to give them the best care possible. I have a large fully fenced 1.4 acre property and a cozy pet friendly home so whether your dog is active and adventurous, a snugly couch potato, or something in between they will feel right at home. I do my best to meet and assess each dog's temperament before their stay to ensure I have the space and resources to make each guest comfortable. Meet and Greets are required. Let's Meet! We are located 10 minutes from I-5 exit 88. My drop off and pick up times are very flexible. Click on the Contact me button above so we can set up a Meet and Greet, I look forward to hearing from you.

Tucker loved staying with Mandee! She was awesome with his puppy energy and we got lots of updates about how he was doing. This was his first ever stay away from us and he had no problems, Mandee even let him sleep by her bed! We will definitely be booking with Mandee again.

Special Accommodations I have experience, and enjoy caring for pets with special needs: paralysis, incontinence, deafness, special diets, medications and more. Our home is air conditioned so heat sensitive breeds will be safe and comfortable during the warmer months. We are currently not accepting unspayed females because our Golden Retriever, Goku, has not been neutered. Intact males are accepted.

Information Mandee P. would like to know about your pet
All dogs in my care are required to be fully up to date on vaccinations and current on flea medications. If you cannot provide proof of vaccination, including bordetella, I will not approve the stay. It is also important to note that I have two children (10 and 12 years old) and, although they are dog savvy, this may not be a good fit for every dog. Every dog has his quirks and your dog's stay will be more enjoyable for everyone if I know them from the start. Are they food aggressive? Do they get anxious when left alone? Are they older and get fed up with more playful, younger dogs? Can they open doors? Do they go through cupboards in search of food? (our food cupboards can be shut with magnet locks if necessary) Are they an escape artist? Every dog is different and it is helpful to know in advance how best to care for them and keep them safe. What should I bring for their stay? The only thing they require is their food and a collar or harness. You can also bring an old blanket or towel that smells like home. If your dog uses their kennel as a safe space or is used to a different type than the wire crates that we have it is a good idea to bring that for them. I also recommend trimming their nails before they come, it gives them better traction on our floors and keeps playtime safer. A note about kennels/crates Many dogs love their crates (including ours) and find them a comfortable and safe space but no dog staying in our home is required to be crate trained or is shut in one if they are uncomfortable with them.
A typical day
My 1.4 acre property is divided into two sections, one for everyday roaming with a spacious lawn, towering oaks, and bushes to play in. This is where I keep the everyday toys and, during the summer months, often run the sprinkler and fill up the kiddie pool. The second area is a fenced off pasture where the dogs are invited for long games of fetch with a chuck-it, digging in dirt piles, and one-on-one play time. Both areas are fenced with 6ft wire field fencing.

During the stay I spend time outside with the dogs playing fetch, filling up the kiddie pool, opening up the fenced pasture for exploring, and just helping them have a blast! Depending on their leash skills I also take dogs for walks down country roads where they can see and smell pheasant, the neighbors horses, cattle and many other interesting things. In the house pups can make themselves comfortable on the couches, dog beds, on the big human bed, or inside crates. I keep a wide variety of toys available and dogs have access inside and out at their leisure.
