I am one of those humans who prefer animals over other humans. I recently lost my dog child, Ace, after rescuing him 9 years ago. It has since occurred to me that it would really help me heal if I got to start loving and caring for other people's dog children. I have been caring for animals since I was a kiddo, farm animals too. I grew up in Wisconsin, and there was never a shortage of animals on our farmland. On a day-to-day basis, I am a grad student at Portland State working towards my Masters in Social Work. I have been working for 22 years as a nurse and suddenly find myself wanting to change gears.
