Rover is my full time job so I spend almost 24/7 with your pet only excluding chores they can’t come along to. My main motivation for joining Rover is to provide peace of mind to pet parents who need a place for their pet to stay. I had an experience boarding my dog at a vet kennel and she came back shaking, scared, soaking wet and stinky. I don’t want any pet or pet parent to go through what she had to. I want people to feel safe leaving their dogs for vacations or necessary travels especially if they require specialized care. Because I want everyone to have access to a safe option for their pet I offer flexible pricing because I believe your family member should not receive less-than care simply because of money.

Information Makenna J. would like to know about your pet

Are they crate trained? If so how long are they safe to be in one? Where do they sleep? (Human bed, floor, etc.) are there any rules you would like me to follow or behaviors you are working on right now? Do they have any known allergies or medical conditions? Is it okay to give them treats and snacks other than what is brought with them? How much food do you feed each feeding? (If the stay 2 or more nights) would you like to opt into the complimentary nail trim and bath, dog tolerating? Is there anything else you feel I should know or keep in mind? (Feel free to copy and paste this to fill it out in our chat)

A typical day

I love walking on the Jordan River parkway trail or taking my dogs to the many people parks around the area. We love walking past the golf course and the county pool. We have a favorite spot to dig in then come home and play in our doggy pool. Our neighborhood is also quiet and low traffic so it’s perfect for a nice calm walk around the block. We are a lower energy family that focuses on safety and health!

Pet care experience

I’ve been the neighborhood nail trimmer, ear cleaner and pull free walker since my single digits. I’d like to expand my experience while offering a safe and comfortable experience for both parents and pets. I can communicate in ASL and understand a few other languages. My pets have allergies and take medications, I have rescues and planned litters so I’m very comfortable around pets that need more attention or time to warm up to people or situations and those who are everyone’s best friends. I’ve kept everything from a bloodhound, down to a miniature dachshund from a 30 gallon aquarium to a jumping spider, animals in all shapes, colors and textures are my passion. Because of this passion in addition to boarding and drop ins I also do some behavioral rehabilitation. I’ve worked through issues like aggression, resource guarding, leash pulling, and low self esteem it doesn’t matter if your dog is a hybrid or 14 things can always get better. BOARDING Safety guidelines I follow: -no double booking unless I have both owners consent, I’ve met both dogs and determine they’d get along. -quickly establishing threshold boundaries to decrease/prevent escape. -feeding dogs separately until I can assess if pack feeding is safe. -if toys or high value items are present dogs are closely monitored. -dogs are never left alone with each other. If I have to leave every dog is crated for their safety. -my dogs are kept current on all vaccines possible. -dogs rest after eating to prevent bloat. -all dogs are kept on a leash when not in a fenced yard or inside the house. -separate resting areas for dogs to relax and decompress in. -stairs on/off furniture for small dogs. -lifting from surfaces for small/ injury prone dogs. -car stairs for medium to XL dogs. -breed specific care. Ex. Low stress exercise for brachycephalic breeds, low impact exercise for giant breeds etc. Meals: -During summer months I am able to provide fresh, dog safe, home grown produce to supplement their diet. -I can accommodate allergies, sensitivities or food rules. -it’s normal for dogs to be anxious in a new place with new people and new dogs so they may not have much of an appetite in the beginning but if it becomes worrisome we have some salmon oil to use as an appetite stimulant with your consent. -we have raised surfaces of varying heights dogs can eat at upon yours or the dogs request. -dogs rest after eating to prevent bloat. This is so important to me I listed it in both categories. Grooming: -every board comes with a bandanna and brushing if applicable -every board 2 or more nights includes a bath, nail trim, brushing (if applicable) and bandanna if the dog tolerates them. -I can provide daily coat care for all types including corded, combination and curly coats. -for stays over 3 weeks bath and nail trim are automatically included unless you ask otherwise. Amenities: -two out door pools for playing and relaxing during the warmer months. -backpack enrichment walks for medium to large dogs. (If they are structurally sound) -daily verbal “I love you’s”. -potty bells on the back door. -multiple large water dishes on each level of the house. -ice enrichment. -fish tanks for puppy tv. -cool tile and wood floors and warm soft blankets for your pups lounging preferences. -stick buffet for finding the best stick to chew on or play fetch with. -huge digging area in the cooler months. -bay window for people/bird watching. -nickname, feel free to ask at pickup. Requirements: -dogs to be current on all vaccines possible -behavioral disclosure before the stay. Please tell us what to expect from your dog, if some situations are better or worse for them if they are uncomfortable with certain things etc. -dogs must be spayed and neutered if they are over a year old excluding giant breeds which must be if 24 months or older. If you have a medical reason for not altering after those windows please let us know and we will take it up on a case by case basis. -with some exceptions, dogs must be crate trained. -medical disclosure before stay. Please let us know if any medical conditions or allergies your dog has so we can keep them safe including incontinence. -stay HAS to be confirmed before day of drop off or we may not accept your dog. DISCLAIMER; I am not a professional groomer so in the bathing package there is no trimming or haircutting unless I have your consent and it is for the dogs health (stuck on feces or painful underbelly mats that cause the dog discomfort) I only offer the bath and nail clipping because I want every dog to be as healthy as possible. Please ask questions about anything, anytime I am always happy to clarify, explain and collaborate with you so your dog has the most safe and fun stay possible. Because your dog’s safety is my number one priority if we determine your dog becomes too stressed during a bath, nail trim, brushing or non emergent activity, that it is more harmful than beneficial we will stop. It is common for dogs in a new environment to have a reduced appetite until they settle in. They may also get an upset stomach or have accidents, we will keep you informed but in most cases it’s nothing to worry about. DROP INS Going to a brand new place with brand new people and pets can be scary or maybe you just need someone to fill in the gap while you are out of the house for long hours without the risk and stress of boarding. I’d love to provide the homey, comfortable, safe atmosphere for your pet while you’re away. Safety guidelines: -I double and triple check I leave doors locked and shut like they were when I arrived -I only bring over my pets for play dates with it permission and after they have met outside of the home or I am confident they will get along -I don’t exercise or play with dogs 30 minutes after they’ve eaten or drank a considerable amount of water -if I am bathing/brushing your pet I will only do so if they do not get too stressed. If I notice your pet is beginning to become overly stressed or aggressive I will stop before I stress them too much Requirements: -let me know ahead of time where everything is and how I will get to your pet -behavioral disclosure, let me know if there’s anything need to correct, watch out for or just be aware of -let me know if you have roommates or other people living on the property so I can help keep an eye out for your things and my safety WALKING It is my ultimate goal to give your dog fulfillment and happiness through exercise. Exercise, specifically walking, is such an important part of dogs mental health and brings so much joy into their lives it is an essential. To bring you back a calm, happy and relaxed dog we do structured walks to help engage the natural instinct to travel as a group and take time after to relax and sniff around. Safety guidelines I follow: -I only do pack walks with dogs I know will get long or have personally worked with to get them to that point. -I stop pulling so dogs do not hurt themselves or me -I don’t overtire dogs -I don’t allow greetings with unfamiliar dogs to prevent injuries or illnesses -dogs without 100% reliable recall are never allowed off leash in an unfenced area Requirements: -dogs must be current on all possible vaccines -behavioral disclosure, if you know of a behavior I may need to work on just let me know it’s most likely not a deal breaker. It’s going to help me keep your pet and others safe. -dogs must be ready at the time of pick up -dogs must have eaten 30+ prior to pick up due to risk of bloat.

Makenna took such good care of our boys while we went on our work trip! I was nervous to leave until I found her, she does really well with understanding each pet and what they need to thrive, even my more anxious boy loved it there! She was able to help teach him a bit of leash manners as well! Cannot recommend her enough! Thank you!
