My schedule as a whole is fairly flexible. While I am in school and have classes throughout the week, the longest days I have are around 6 hours and we do have at least an hour for lunch midday. Over the weekends I am typically studying, so I'm available to spend the majority of my time hanging out with your pet!

From a young age, my parents have made it a priority to ensure I'm a considerate and trustworthy individual. Leaving your pets with someone you haven't know for a duration of time is understandably nerve racking. To combat this, I'm more than happy to meet prior to the visit starting, and welcome any questions you may have. Everyone has different routines for their animals, so I enjoy having a conversation to set expectations of what a typical day would look like and what I can do to ensure they're as happy and as comfortable as possible.

It's helpful for me to know what your pets daily routine looks like so I can do my best to keep it as aligned as possible while you're away. It's additionally helpful to know if there is anything that stresses your pet out (i.e. storms, vacuuming, seeing other animals on walks) so I can be aware of these and accommodate accordingly!
A typical day
I love to be active, and would be more than happy to take your pup with me on a walk (or run if they're up for it)! Photography has always been an avid hobby of mine, and I have taken website photos for the humane society's website for a while now. Additionally, I do have a background in behavioral work and greatly enjoy working with animals in a positive reinforcement based way-so if you’re hoping to teach your dog any new tricks, I’d be happy to work on those!

Pet care experience
As someone who has grown up with pets, worked at a humane society for 8+ years now, and fostered 72 animals, it would be a bit of an understatement to say I'm an animal lover. I started veterinary school here at UGA back in the August of 2022 and have loved having the chance to pet sit for people in our community. Through fostering for local animal shelters, I’ve been fortunate enough to care for everything ranging from a 3 pound chihuahua puppy to a 130lb great dane, so I'm very familiar with a range of breeds, ages, behaviors, etc.! Growing up, I was exuberantly known as the go-to neighborhood pet watcher, as everyone knew I loved animals and was happy to help out if they went out of town.

Makenna was wonderful! I’m a veterinarian, and I felt completely at ease leaving my dogs in her care. Makenna was kind, communicative, and responsible. She sent lots of updates and pictures, and she went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were entertained and well cared for. She even vacuumed my house before she left! Makenna is an absolute gem, and anyone would be lucky to have her look after their pets!
Here on Athens for a family reunion/Easter weekend and am SO lucky to have found Makenna! She was flexible, reliable, and extremely hospitable. Of course, being from out of town, this was our first experience with her, but she treated and cared for Milo as if he were her own. She is a great communicator and even sends pics! I’d highly recommend her and if we ever come back to Athens, we will be utilizing her services again.
