Hello pet parents! I am originally from Connecticut and did my undergrad in Philly. Prior to moving to Ann Arbor I lived in Portland, OR for a few years where I got my start on Rover (2020-2023) though I have been caring for dogs & cats professionally since I was in high school. I spent the last two years in NYC where sadly I had to take a break from Rover, so i'm very excited to be back in a house with a yard so I can resume this important part of my life. As you can see by the photos on my profile, being around dogs is when I'm the happiest. My dog-sitter MO is similar to my personal lifestyle which is to be active and doing things outdoors as much as possible. I also understand that, like humans, every dog has a personality of their own and I value the importance of catering to this, especially being a new and unfamiliar face for them.

I’m so happy I found Makena for a last minute booking, my dog had a blast with her - he got to go on a better adventure than I did during this work trip.
Makena was great! We left our two very opposite dogs with her (10 month old active puppy and 12 year old) and both came back very happy. She was accommodating with drop offs and was always quick to respond. Would 100% have her watch our dogs again.

Makena was great! Gave Huxley lots of exercise and he had a blast. It was great getting some photos while I was away and she was very communicative and flexible with pickup and drop off!
Makena did a great job taking care of Charlotte, the visit went off without a hitch and no issues during our out of town trip. Would recommend without hesitation.
Makena was AMAZING with my very active dog. This was the first time staying away from my house and I was crazy nervous, but she sent pictures and lots of updates. Great experience!

Schedule
I work from home during this time so it’s quite easy for me to juggle the responsibility, even for the needier ones. Outside of work hours I like to get outside for a walk or hike. I have a truck, so its also easy for me to take the dogs with me on a woodsy adventure or to the dog park.

I’ve spent almost all of my life having a dog around and caring for them in one way or another. I currently do not have any pets of my own due to moving around too much and frankly I like to use this app to fill that void when I can, not so much for the money :)
A typical day
I like to wake up and go to the dog park or for a long walk so that the dogs have most of their energy out to hold them over until my lunch break.
