Aloha! My name is Makana, and I am an avid animal lover with a background in canine behavior. Although I was born on Maui, I grew up in New York. Following my passion for animals, I pursued my certificate in professional dog training, pet sitting, and dog walking through Animal Behavior College after graduating from high school. With over 15 years of experience in the pet care industry, I've dedicated myself to providing exceptional care for animals. In 2020, upon moving home to Maui, I joined Maui Humane Society as a Veterinary Assistant. During my tenure there, I acquired invaluable skills in veterinary care, including advanced first aid, proficient administration of oral and injectable medication, and accurate monitoring of vital signs, . This experience further solidified my commitment to providing compassionate and professional care for pets and their Ohana's.

Makana was amazing! From the very first phone call to the meet and greet and then her process of making sure she was totally prepared to care for our dog while we were away- she was PHENOMENAL! We would give her 10 stars if we could! Makana shared lots of photos while we were away and she left the house clean, which we also appreciated after getting home from a long flight! Makana is very professional and her love and care for animals and people shines through her kind personality! We couldn’t be happier with our experience! Makanalani expertly cared for our crazy household of 2 dogs, 3 cats, and even our plants while we were away—and we came home to a house that was sparkling clean (honestly cleaner than when we left!). She was incredibly responsible, attentive, and responsive throughout. It gave us such peace of mind knowing our house and animals were in such capable hands. We would highly recommend Makanalani to anyone looking for top-notch care! We will be requesting her in the future as our go-to pet sitter while away!

Schedule
I mainly work remotely however, I will have meeting and appointments I need to attend to during the week. At most your pet will not be alone for more than 2-4 hours at a time. My goal is to be able to provide my clients with excellent care at an affordable price!
