I am a full time student at UNC Asheville getting my undergrad requirements to become a vet. I have classes during the week throughout the school year but they are spread out throughout the day with breaks in between. In addition, I work at part time at a veterinary clinics totaling about 20 hours a week.

Safety, trust & environment
I love to give pets and attention and focus on creating a bond with a pet. My goal is to make them as comfortable and happy as possible while you are away and they are missing you. I love the outdoors and would love to take your pet on a walk for some peace and quiet and to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Information Mairead H. would like to know about your pet
I love pets of all shapes and sizes! Any medications or special needs and their care is great information for me to know ahead of time. I prefer to do a meet and greet so not only can we go over your pet’s care, but your pet and I can get familiar with each other before you are gone. It’s useful to me to know how long pets can be left alone as well. Additionally, it would be great to know if a dog has any history of reactivity:)
A typical day
I love to go on walks on trails and go hiking with pups (they help me keep pace). I also love to play fetch and tug of war, and any other game to see your pet wag their tail! I also love to teach pets tricks and reward them with a treat (or two)!

I would ❤️ to meet your pet!
Pet care experience
I’ve had pets my whole life and plan to dedicate the rest of it to the human animal bond. I work part time as a veterinary assistant while I am trying to get into vet school. I have been doing Rover for about 4 years now, and have plenty of experience with wonderful clients and their wonderful pets. Working in vet med has provided me with tons of amazing opportunities to learn more about pets needs and their health. In addition, I have completed Pet CPR certification and T-touch training.

Mairead takes such amazing care of my Airedale Hank!! She is incredible. Great communication, sends photos, always has updates. She is the sweetest ever!!!

Mairead was absolutely wonderful. It was my first time leaving my dog with a dog sitter in my home, and the first time I was away from her after the hurricane in Asheville. She was so responsive and helped settle my nerves so quickly with ease and authenticity. My dog is reactive, and usually when I come home from trips leaving her at people’s houses she is all anxious. After Mairead left and I came home to Lady, Lady was incredibly calm. Happy, but so calm! I could tell Lady felt safe and taken care of, as did I! Highly recommend booking with Mairead!

Mairead was amazing and took great care of our dog! She sent lots of pictures, gave daily updates, and was a clean and tidy houseguest. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a sitter!

I was apprehensive about leaving our pups while we went out of the country. When Mairead came for a meet and greet, it was reassuring to see how Max and Molly were immediately at home with her. She had their approval… and mine. She did not disappoint! Mairead took such good care of Max and Molly. She also kept me updated with cute photos. I will definitely use Mairead’s services again. She’s awesome!
