My husband and I both work full-time. He goes into the office few times a week and I try to go in every day for at least 4 hours when I can. If the dog is friendly and well-behaved, I bring the dog with me for a change of scenery for a few hours to half day. It just depends on the owner's preference based on their dog's personality and my schedule. Given I'm not staying in the office for so long, your dog can also stay home as long as you are OK with it and I'll be back home as quickly as I can to hang. On the days I'm home, I can be very flexible with quick potty breaks throughout the day as much as my work allows (if your dog is able to just pee in the backyard and come right back then even every 2 hours). Walks will be shorter in the morning or during the day on weekdays but can do longer walks in the evenings and weekends. On weekends we tend to have more activities going on. I'll bring your dog wherever I can - to playgrounds, beach parks, shopping, picnic, friends' house, etc. Just let me know if you have any preference on where your doggie can go. I prefer getting the booking completed at least 3 days in advance, but I understand some urgent situations could arise - Even if it's within the 3 days, reach out and ask! I'd be happy to accommodate you if I'm available (I've accepted a dog within an hour notice). If you ever need to cancel booking, please let me know as soon as possible. For boarding especially, I appreciate having at least 10-14 day notice so I can update my calendar and potentially have another dog stay with us.

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a standalone house with a back yard. It’s fully-fenced for quick potty breaks, playing, or sun bathing with wine. It's not a huge backyard but the sidewalk is long and is perfect for playing fetch. Otherwise, we have a school playground within 5 mins of walk with a fenced sections that we can easily go to. Your dog is welcome to sleep in the living room with or without a crate where it’s familiar and comfortable. We have many cameras inside and outside the home so if and when your dog stays at home by him/herself or at night, we will be able to check on him/her constantly. We don’t have any other pets so your dog will get all our attention. If your dog can't be left alone at home for even a short time (mostly kids' school pickups/grocery shopping), please let me know so I can make sure to only accept your booking request if one of us can be with him/her 24/7. In general, at least one of us will be home with your dog for the most part. Please bring a leash, crate (if you have one), poop bags, food and a cup, treats, and any favorite toys. Appreciate for owners who bring wet wipes/cleaning supplies for the dogs that are still having accidents or during rainy seasons. We have a big dog bed and bowls your doggie is welcome to use.

Information Maiko N. would like to know about your pet

I'd love to know: - Is your dog kids-friendly? - Is your dog an escape artist? - Is your dog friendly to other dogs? - Are you OK with me bringing your dog to my office? (I have lots of space around my desk and no other dogs, but there may be other dogs passing by in the building) - Does your dog get separation anxiety (can your dog stay home for up to a few hours by him/herself if needed?) - Should I be worried about your dog chewing furniture, books, shoes, toys, etc? - Does your dog have any special needs (does your dog need medicine, diaper change, etc.?). - How often should I let your dog out for potty breaks? - Vet info just in case of emergencies

A typical day

I love cuddling with dogs, and just having them around makes me happy. If your dog is affectionate and loves humans, we will be a great match! I also love going to different parks (Gas Works Park, Maple Leaf Park, Dahl Park, Green Lake, Matthews Beach, Richmond Beach Park, etc.) and taking pictures. I’m obsessed with kids and dogs - they are the cutest! You'll get a free photo session out of a stay :)

Pet care experience

Hi! Thanks for viewing my profile! I'm a huge dog lover. I had a few dogs growing up in Japan. Ever since moving to the US 20 years ago, I've had a lot of opportunities to be around dogs at home and in the office. My now husband and I adopted our own dog from a shelter. She was a black lab mix named Chestnut - our flower girl and big sister to our now 8yo daughter and 6yo son. Unfortunately she passed away at age 17 in 2022. The last 1-2 years were hard on everyone with her losing the ability to stand/walk and to experience a rather sudden death one morning. With this experience, I know what’s like to have especially old dogs who might need extra care - medicine, diaper, slow walk and gentle care. I’m just hoping to fill the empty spot in my heart with your dogs at least until we adopt a new dog. We will welcome any dog who is friendly and gentle with kids who are house-trained. I also love taking photos so I promise you’ll get some really cute photos of your dog! :) While I don't prefer hosting more than one dog at a time, if you have two dogs from your household, please talk to me. I think it's doable and I've done it and and it went well. Similarly, don't get too discouraged by any of my preference settings. I'm flexible and will work with you to the best of my ability.

Maiko was all that I could wish for in a dog-sitter and more!!! She gave Daisy a safe & secure environment, lots of adventures, and lots of love--and she gave me the peace of mind of knowing my beloved dog was in solid, responsible & capable hands. I wholeheartedly recommend Maiko and would not hesitate to book her again!
