I am home for the summer after graduating college and will be attending veterinary school at VMCVM in the fall! Animals are my whole life so besides also working at the VEG ER for Pets in Falls Church this summer I would love to get some more pet time by doing Rover :)

Safety, trust & environment

I have worked as a Veterinary Nurse for the last 4 years, including 1.5 at a high-volume emergency hospital. I am certified in pet CPR and first aid, and have loads of experience administering medication (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, etc.). I also always say that if I wasn't going into vetmed I would have wanted to be a professional groomer - I looove giving a good spa day! Other than that, I’m great at being punctual and will make sure everything your pet needs will be at the right time, place, and the right thing. Both my work experience and my passion for vetmed fuel me to make sure your kiddos have the best experience possible, whether it’s walking, dropping in or overnight stays!

Information Maia K. would like to know about your pet

I’m big on routines, so it’s helpful to have some instructions ahead of time to help me take care of your pup as best as possible when you’re gone. I usually ask about feeding habits/schedules, favorite toy/s, favorite spots to walk. If they require any medication, if there are any rules you have for them while you’re away (e.g. no sitting on the bed, stuff like that). How much exercise they need per day, if they have any fears (e.g. thunderstorms) or aggressions/nervousness (e.g. child or dog) so I can make sure to look out for them like they’re my own.

A typical day

I love going on walks in nearby parks or forest areas, I know a few quiet spots as well if your dog isn’t a dog or child person. My own dog has way too many toys that she’s happy to share, or if I’m staying over I love a good game of tug-of-war! If your dog is more laid back, that totally works for me too. I would cuddle on the couch all day if I could :)

Happy pet, no sweat!

Pet care experience

I have experience with all shapes and sizes of dogs and cats, as well as reptiles (I even have one of my own, his name is Ollie)! I have experience with administering oral, topical and subQ medication as well as things like inhalers. In addition to feeding the pets, walking dogs and changing cat litter, I particularly love just spending time with your pups and kitties and giving them whatever they need to be happy. I could spend hours brushing cats or dogs and routinely give baths for my puppy, Samoa. I’m a big cuddler but also love a good hike in the forest.

Maia is definitely my cats' favorite pet sitter. It's clear from her pics and updates that she really got to know them. Usually they act out a little while we're away, and there was none of that. I can tell they were very happy and well taken care of. I would absolutely want to work with Maia again.

Maia was absolutely fantastic! She was super communicative and sent a bunch of adorable photos and lengthy notes with updates on my cats. I have two little anxious babies and she was so good about making sure they took their meds and I could see from the photos how relaxed they were around her. When I came home they weren’t even mad at me for being gone! Would 10/10 recommend!

Maia was very professional and she handled my shy dog very well. She communicated about everything that was happening at home and sent me lots of pictures and updates. She also took good care of our home while we were gone!
