Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I already spend much of my free time around animals. I regularly volunteer with shelter dogs, enjoy being outdoors, and have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate focused time to walks, visits, playtime, feeding, and companionship. I make sure pets receive plenty of attention and exercise while maintaining any routines they are used to at home.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. Having grown up with a reactive dog, I understand that every dog has different needs, triggers, and comfort levels. I pay close attention to body language, respect boundaries, and strive to create positive experiences that help dogs feel safe and secure. Through my experience taking shelter dogs on outings and adventures, I've worked with dogs of many different sizes, personalities, energy levels, and backgrounds. Some dogs have needed lots of exercise and enrichment, while others have benefited from a slower pace, extra patience, or a quieter environment. These experiences have taught me the importance of adapting my approach to each individual dog rather than expecting every dog to respond the same way. When caring for pets, I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and any special considerations so I can provide personalized care. During walks and outings, I use secure leashing practices, stay aware of my surroundings, and prioritize safety at all times. I also follow owner instructions closely and am happy to provide updates and photos while you're away.

Pet care experience

I've been around animals and caring for pets for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a family dog and have experience caring for both dogs and cats through pet ownership, pet sitting, and volunteer work. In addition to caring for my own pets, I've dog sat for coworkers, friends, and family over the years. More recently, I've been participating in Best Friends Animal Society's dog adventure program, where I take shelter dogs out for walks, hikes, and outings to give them exercise, enrichment, and a break from the shelter environment. Through these experiences, I've become comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, personalities, energy levels, and training backgrounds. I'm patient, reliable, and attentive to each animal's unique needs. Whether a pet enjoys outdoor adventures, playtime, or simply having a calm companion nearby, I strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away.

Maggie took wonderful care of our dog and cat while we were away. She diligently followed our care instructions and kept us updated with photos. I would highly recommend her for pet/house sitting! We will definitely book with her again.

Maggie has been great with our pup! She responds promptly to messages, shows up on time, and our dog comes home nice and tired after their walks. Highly recommend.

Maggie has always been an animal whisperer. She relates to animals, she can read their silent cues, and she responds in ways that meets their needs. Her time spent working with horses really solidified these skills. She can transfer that understanding to cats and dogs, where she can build friendship with the most ornery cat and soothe a dog with porcupine quills sticking out of her muzzle! She has the gift of animal care.
