Remote work and a flexible schedule mean there's lots of leeway in my routine! For petsitting in your home, I generally have lots of time to hang out with your cat(s)/dog(s) during the day. For weekly walk-ins/drop-ins, let's talk!

Safety, trust & environment
I'm eager to make your pet's routine feel seamless while you're away. With new clients (for any service), I request a meet-and-greet so everybody can decide if they're comfortable. Before sitting in your home, I will want to visit as part of the first meetup to understand your schedule and environment.
Information Maggie H. would like to know about your pet
In addition to regular meals and meds, what are the treats you use for positive reinforcement? If you have specific commands/gestures you've trained, let me know so I can offer consistency. Any special toys I should know about? Any fears (skateboards, bigger dogs) or triggers that I should be aware of? Let me know about out-of-bounds places in your home for your pet (the bed, the sofa) and their safe places (the sofa, the crate) so we're all on the same page. For pet sitting, I will send you a checklist after our meet and greet for essential info like emergency vet, meals and meds, etc.
A typical day
Tell me about your dog's favorite walks, parks, and play areas! I'm a big fan of long walks, and am happy to come up with new adventures for dogs who want to explore, but if your pet has a preferred routine, places you want to avoid, etc., let me know.

Experienced pet- and house-sitter
Pet care experience
I've cared for family and neighbors' pets since I was a child, independently watching everything from cats to chickens. As an adult, I have become the go-to sitter for my friends' dogs and cats. I'm experienced with administering medication (oral and injected), injured and senior pets, and pets with behavioral considerations to manage. I love helping pets thrive, whether they are active and social or snoozy couch potatoes. I've also volunteered with shelters, where establishing trust and rapport with a stressed dog is crucial. I work part-time/remotely, so my schedule is open for pet care in Mission/Bernal/Castro/Noe Valley/Potrero Hill on 24-hour notice. (If you're a new client, we need time to schedule a meet and greet first). I am flexible but multi-day sitting assignments and regular walking arrangements are welcome. I am eager to learn about the routine that best fits your pet at your home, whether it's active walks and playtime or a calmer routine for senior animals. I look forward to helping your pet feel safe, engaged, and happy in your home while you're away.

Reviews

Maggie is our go-to sitter for our senior dog, Ginger. She does a great job managing Ginger’s reactivity and always follows her care instructions to a t. We highly recommend Maggie.

Maggie’ was great with Tallie over the long weekend. Tallie was very happy and well taken care of!

Maggie was extremely responsive, very patient with our easily scared 77lb pup, and sent great pictures. So happy we found her.

Maggie was the absolute best with our dog during the last few years of his life. Reliable and so great to work with. We are so thankful for her and her time with our pup.
