Availability
I will try my best to accommodate last-minute requests, but for dogs especially I prefer to do meet and greets first (for house sittings, this is non-negotiable). I drive to all visits and therefore require complimentary, non-time-limited parking that is close by your home. For clients that live in apartment complexes/high-rise buildings, this may mean designated guest parking. For regular/recurring daily/weekly visits: • I will give a minimum of 2-4 weeks' notice for any schedule changes/unavailabilities. • If you are looking for daily/weekly midday walks, I cannot guarantee a specific time, only a window, as my schedule often varies and I need to be able to arrange my day in an order that is most efficient to limit driving time between visits. Specific times are reserved for pets that need medication. For overnight house sittings: • I can provide potty breaks every 4-6 hours on weekdays depending on my schedule. • Includes 45-60 mins exercise per day

Safety, trust & environment
I consider myself caring, conscientious, and communicative. Safety and health are my top priorities! I strongly prefer to have meet and greets before booking any service to ensure that we are all a good fit. If I notice anything out of the ordinary during a visit or stay, I will immediately contact you with photos (even if they're gross). • I will always stay the full 30 minutes of a visit (unless we have agreed on a different arrangement). I will try to engage with any pet, but will not force interaction if they are acting nervous. Sometimes just a calm nearby presence can be enough comfort for a particularly shy kitty! I have dealt with many anxious pets over the years, but I have found that earning their trust is the best reward in itself! • I strongly prefer harnesses, Martingales, or head collars paired with short (4'-6') leashes for walks. I ensure that all equipment is snugly fitted and without any fraying/damage before we head out the door. If you only have a flat collar and/or retractable leash available, I will use my own double-ended leash that I keep in my car. • Dogs are not allowed off-leash except for in their own fully fenced-in yards. Exceptions are only allowed for homes with invisible fences (though I will still go outside with and supervise them, and bring them inside if I see a person and/or other dog going for a walk coming up the street) and for exceptionally obedient dogs with whom I have a well established relationship and explicit, written consent from the owner. • I will not bring dogs to dog parks, even if they are empty, due to the liability. Similarly, I will keep a safe distance from any other dogs on walks and even decline requests from strangers to pet them if you so wish. I also do not accept visits for cats who will be able to go outdoors on their own when I am not there. • Please let me know if you are expecting any maintenance work, landscapers, etc. while I am scheduled to be at your house. (I have been locked out by contractors before.)

Information Mae H. would like to know about your pet
I believe every dog is a good dog! Tell me your dog's favorite toys, how many treats are okay to give, eating habits, behavior towards other dogs, and any other idiosyncrasies you think I should know. Do they mind the rain? Do you care about distance walked, or is it just okay that they get outside and stretch their legs? (Mental stimulation is just as important as physical, after all!) If they are small, is it okay to pick them up if need be? Do you have any other pets, like a cat that I need to watch for when I come in? Do you need any plants watered or the mail fetched? We will cover all these questions and more at our meet and greet!
A typical day
You will receive photos from each and every walk/visit! If it looks like it will rain, I ask that you leave a towel out to dry off paws and tummies. In warmer weather, I bring water and portable water bowls on walks and give breaks every 15-20 minutes. If it is hotter than ~75°, I will only do half-hour walks and shorter to prevent overheating. If it is hotter than ~80-85° or colder than ~20-25° (breed-dependent), I will only do drop-in visits (potty break + indoor playtime). I keep a variety of balls/Chuck-Its, cat toys, leashes, poop bags, and even a cat harness in my car at all times, so I am prepared for any situation!

Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Mae! I've been around animals since they were bigger than me and love to meet new furry friends! I have walked 358 dogs and counting, as young as 9 weeks to as old as 16 years, completed dozens of house-sittings, and cared for dozens of cats with temperaments ranging from sweet and cuddly to super spicy. Pet care is my full-time job so I take it seriously. I will look after your pet(s) like they are my own and do my best to accommodate their and your needs and requests. My priorities are communication, competence, and safety.
Reviews

Mae was incredibly communicative, responsible, and flexible. The intentional questions she asked about our cat Tater Tot during the meet and greet, the detailed updates she left while we were away, and how happy Tater looked in the photos she sent all make it clear why she has so many great reviews on Rover! We would definitely recommend her and trust her with Tater Tot again.

After almost 12 years of only using family members to watch our pup, we found ourselves needing to hire a sitter for the first time. We were SO nervous but from the second we met Mae we knew we were leaving our dog in good hands. My favorite part was the detailed reports of her visit with so many pictures of our shy dog enjoying herself. We will absolutely use Mae again and recommend her to anyone needing a calm, professional, and animal loving dog sitter. You can tell she is passionate about her job and that is exactly what I was looking for when searching for a Rover sitter. Thank you Mae!!

My dog is shy and can be timid. Mae was so sweet and patient with my pup. I appreciated the updates throughout the walk!

Mae took excellent care of Rhubarb. I greatly appreciated all the photos Mae sent of Rhubarb during her daily check-ins. Would absolutely recommend Mae!
