Pet care experience

Experienced. Trust Worthy. Loving.

I've always loved and enjoyed cats and dogs, so it was natural for me to watch friends' and family's pets. Then Cesar Millan and Jackson Galaxy entered my life, elevating my pet relationships by helping me better understand their behavior and needs. Cesar Millan's approach focuses on dog psychology instead of dog training. I feel dog psychology is a universal dog-human communication. The techniques and tips have made a huge difference for me in a very positive way. My hope and goal is that my time with your pet is a positive experience for all of us. During the summer, the walk is a little different, depending on the weather. There is a shaded backyard where we can walk together and toss the ball around to burn energy. I also have a dog pool for the water loving hot dogs. Dogs do not use the main pool. Walking dogs is vital for building relationships, so I have invested in Easy Walk No-Pull Harnesses in every size after watching how they completely changed the walk with some of my difficult walkers. I now have what I call "peace on the leash", at least most of the time. When in the yard, I stay with them. They are not left alone. If I have to leave during the day, it's only for a short period. I'm here the majority of the time. I communicate well with dogs and listen to what they tell me. It gets better all the time.

The back yard is amazing! Instant comfort for dogs needing space. Madonna helped ease my sensitive pups into their stay during monsoon storms. She worked with them on their schedules and needs. The photos showed how happy they were and I think they were on a two week vacation. They stayed with a small intimate group of other dogs and made friends. When we picked them up they were happy like we left them and brushed! But was expecting to nee to bathe them but unnecessary!

Madonna was a great sitter. She knew dogs' behavior very well. From the pictures she sent, we could tell Rock was relaxed and comfortable. He enjoyed the big shady yard too. We will definitely ask her again!

This was our longest trip away from our dogs and first time Madonna watched them and they really did great. I could tell they felt very at ease in her space, we will definitely be bringing them back for our next trip.

Our dog was in excellent hands with Madonna. She’s got a very organized professional set up. We love that our dog could socialize with other dogs and have a big shady backyard to romp in and a comfy bed to sleep on as well.

We left our Shih Tzu, "Biscuit", with Madonna for over a week. I was worried about how he would do, since he came back from a previous sitter depressed and frightened. When I reached out to Madonna, she got right back to me about a meet and greet. She has access to a large and beautiful (!) yard and truly understands dog behavior. Everything was clean and functional; Biscuit was immediately at ease, and so was I. When we picked him up after we returned from our trip, he was happy to see us, but not desperate, like he had been after the previous sitter experience. In fact, since he's been home, I think he's been a bit bored, and has missed playing with the doggie friends he made at Madonna's! We now consider Madonna our go to Rover sitter, and that brings me tremendous piece of mind :)

Schedule

In the morning, we walk the backyard together to see what's going on and for them to take care of business. It's nice and calm, with lots of good smells and entertainment. After that, I start my coffee, give my dog a morning feeding, and then walk. The walk part is important, as this is how you build a better relationship with your dog. Sun, heat, and time of day are considered before walks. When they return from the walk, they will have water and a nap. Sometimes a ride in the van, just depends on the day. If you prefer, they don't go for rides, please let me know. Not every dog does. My van, The Dog Bus, has two rows and a front passenger seat. I have two booster seats for small dogs. Leashes, harnesses, and dogs are all different, so it's hard to make a blanket statement on this one. I'm an overthinker, which is good for us. Your dog's health and wellness is important to me.

Safety, trust & environment

The main features are a large fenced-in backyard and a small fenced-in patio. Dogs are not left outside alone in the backyard. They can be on the patio with the screen door open or closed. I've washed dogs as they can get dirty in the yard, but I'm not a groomer. If your pup gets a bath out of the arrangement, your dog had a great time here. Meet-and-greets are a must. I need you to view and approve of the property. For your dog, the experience of coming here and then going home shows them you'll be back for them. I do my absolute best to keep your pet safe and happy. Note to all: I am no longer accepting hunting breeds.- No Setters, Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, Saint Bernards, Boxers, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinchers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Irish Wolfhounds or Shepherd breeds. The homeowner is not responsible for any liabilities.

A typical day

A typical day—well, it depends on when that starts and what time of year it is. After we awake, we walk, get the business done, and see how things are in the world. Dog walking depends on your dog and the time of year. They get a walk-in, some two. I live in a dog-friendly walking area, and the backyard is fantastic.
