I tutor in the mornings until about lunch time. I typically let my dogs run beforehand and again for at least an hour or two when I get home. I’m typically home most of the afternoon/evening aside from the occasional errand. I also give more run time before bed.

Safety, trust & environment

I want to respect your wishes for your pet and ensure they are receiving the best care I can give them more than anything else. I have crate trained my own dogs and typically prefer to use one for when I’m not at home. I generally prefer not to use a retractable leash on a dog regardless of size simply because I have less control over the dog with that and if your dog is reactive a retractable leash poses more of a risk to them as well as other animals and people. I do have treats and will respect your wishes on those. I’m happy to give some to your pup so long as I know they don’t have allergies to any ingredients and you are of course welcome to provide some as well. If you do crate train your dog especially or even if you don’t and want them to be able to run for a bit or go on a long walk to burn some energy and get some exercise, then that is something I am happy to do. I’ve got a rather large back yard with an 8ft privacy fence for the dogs to run in. So long as you are ok with it I’d be happy to let our dogs run together so long as a meet and greet goes well.

Information Madilyn P. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if you have a reactive dog and what they react with that you’re aware of. If your dog has any special needs or health issues please also let me know what risks to look for and what to do for your particular dog in that situation. Please inform me if your dog has any known issues with other dogs, animals in general or people. I prefer bigger dogs as I have more experience with them but I have cared for smaller dogs before and am able to do so.

A typical day

I tend to take my dogs on hikes or to the park or lake where they can run around and burn some energy. I am more than happy to walk your dog wherever you wish. I believe that dogs especially younger dogs or more active breeds should have the opportunity to burn off some of their excess energy when they need to and be able to do that in a fun way. I enjoy playing games with my dog like fetch or tug of war, but I’ve found, especially if there’s more than one, that dogs tend to enjoy just running and wrestling with each other more than anything.

Pet care experience

I own three dogs myself, a Boxer and two Cani Corsi. I’ve been taking care of various kinds of dogs since I was a kid. I had help consistently when I was smaller and then around age 12 when my family got a new dog I was able to pet sit on my own for neighbors, friends, or family. I love dogs and I’ve grown up around them from the time I was born. I assisted on occasion with my grandmother’s teacup poodle that was severely ill with liver disease throughout my childhood and early teen years. I have most experience with medium to large dogs. I have almost always had a bigger dog around and currently own a boxer. I have most regularly cared for boxers, labs, Great Danes, spaniels, and shepherd mixes specifically, though I do have experience with other breeds and mixes as well. Those are just the ones I am most familiar with and watch or have been around on a fairly regular basis. I typically do not use a retractable leash on any size dog if I have a choice simply because if I am walking a reactive dog I want to ensure that if they have an aggressive or strong reaction I can control them enough to prevent them from harming themselves or other people and animals. A retractable leash does not afford me that control and especially if it is a dog I am less familiar with and do not know for sure how it will respond I want to ensure everyone’s safety including that of your pup. I do have more experience with grown dogs than puppies though I have watched them before. I’ve also spent 3 months as an intern learning basic obedience training.

Fantastic with dogs. Madi takes very good care of them. She is comfortable with big dogs, too. Highly recommended. Madi is the best! And, you won’t find better.
