Availability
My full-time job takes place during usual business hours, 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday. I often have the flexibility to work from home for half or full days. If I am required to be in the office, I can coordinate my lunch break in the middle of my workday to give your pet a quick potty break and playtime. In addition to my full-time job, I often pick up winter & summer jobs with Des Moines Parks and Recreation. My current stage in life requires me to work more than one job most of the year (#studentloans). The busy schedule that I maintain has pushed me to perfect my time management skills, and be forever grateful for my google calendar. I appreciate the consistent changing of my work schedules/locations and enjoy the challenge of including your pet’s daily care routine with my own. Most of my in-person jobs have shifts/time commitments of 4-6 hours, but I will communicate my availability to make sure I can cater to your pet’s needs.

About Madi B.

Safety, trust & environment
In your home, I will fulfill the needs of your pets by following the directions given to me during a meet and greet and/or left via note/document. When I meet you and your pet(s), I ask specific questions to better understand their needs, behaviors, habits and physical health. Daily updates with photos can be provided, but I always ask the owner how frequent they would like for me to check-in. When questions or concerns come up during a service, I do not hesitate to contact the owner. Thankfully, Rover requires emergency and vet information from the owner before confirming the booking. In the unlikely case that I cannot get a hold of the owner and I feel the concern is time-sensitive, I will access the emergency resources provided.
Information Madi B. would like to know about your pet
Please tell me if your pet is on any medications. Even if you are not going to have me administer the medication, I would like to know. It’s helpful for me to be informed on medications your pet is taking in the unlikely case there is a reaction I need to respond to. I am not afraid to call the owner with any concerns about the pet’s well-being. I understand that in the case of an emergency, I will be following the safety plan within the Rover profile if I cannot get ahold of the owner. It’s important for me to know how your pet behaves when you are not around. Will this be their first time being away from their owners? Are they anxious, oblivious that you're even gone, or sad? And what behaviors do they exhibit as a result of those feelings they experience? The more transparent you can be, the better it is for me and most importantly your pet. If you're honest about your pet's needs and behaviors, I can be transparent about my skill set and what situations I am able to handle.
A typical day
Depending on your pet’s needs, I can provide a wide range of activities to help your pet feel comfortable while you’re away. After completing daily care routines, I like to set aside time to connect with your pet. If it’s the first time I'm providing a service, I give the animal space to come to me when they are ready. For pets that require high amounts of stimulation, I can provide enrichment activities such as playing hide and seek, frozen lick mats/kongs (greek yogurt or peanut butter), or your pet’s favorite game. I was born and raised in Minnesota so don't worry about the weather! I am willing to walk a dog in rain, snow, sun or clouds as long as they stay safe and comfortable. For cats, I typically spend the morning taking care of any litter box maintenance and feeding. From there, I’ll be checking in to see how the cat feels. I know cats are more than willing to communicate when playtime will start and/or end. One of my favorite activities involves placing treats in an empty paper towel roll or small box for the cat to work on getting them out. Whatever amount of stimulation your cat needs, I am happy to provide!

Pet care experience
I've had a variety of pet sitting experiences since I was in high school and have enjoyed caring for people's pets. Since joining the Rover community, my love and appreciation for pet sitting has grown immensely. I'm engaging with wonderful pets and people of the Des Moines community through pet care. Getting to connect with an animal is very special, and I would be honored to have that opportunity with anyone's pet(s). When I care for your pet, the benefits are going both ways. I will make sure your pet is safe and comfortable while you're away, and in return, I meet a furry friend that brings me to a mindful space. My bachelor's degree in social work taught me the skill that it's important to meet people/animals where they are at. Whatever you as an owner or your pet brings to the table, I will do my best to accommodate and adapt. I will be clear and honest about my skills and limits so you can make sure I am the right fit for your precious pet! I can't wait to chat with you!

Reviews

Madi is the best. We don’t leave our pups very often. Madi was communicative and the dogs were super excited to see but it was clear they were loved on while we were away. Would 100% book Madi again. Felt totally comfy with Madi in our home!!

Came home to healthy happy pets, thanks!

Madi was very communicative throughout the week and sent lots of fun photos of our pets!

Madi was super attentive with my kitty Jazz, and was very communicative throughout each visit! I felt assured knowing Madi was checking in on her and would definitely recommend!
