Pet lover + BIG fenced yard 🐾

Leaving your dog with someone else is a BIG deal. You want to know they’re safe, loved, and with someone who actually understands dogs. That’s exactly what I’m here for! Hi, I’m Maddy! I’ve been around animals my entire life, from growing up with dogs and cats to caring for my own pets throughout adulthood. I’ve also had German Shepherds for the past 10 years, so I’m very comfortable with big dogs, big personalities, and dogs who need someone confident handling them. I especially love big dogs and am comfortable with large or intimidating breeds. I also grew up riding and caring for horses, including having my own horse and caring for them from fifth grade through high school, so I’ve always been very comfortable around larger animals. I own my home on an acre of land with a large, fenced backyard, so dogs staying with me have plenty of space to play, sniff, explore, or just relax. There are no shared walls or homes packed right up against us, which makes for a pretty peaceful environment. I also work for myself, which means I have a flexible schedule and can spend a lot of time at home with your pets. I’m happy to follow their normal routines, give them plenty of attention and enrichment, and send lots of photo updates along the way. My goal is for your dog to feel like they’re having a little vacation of their own while you’re away. 🐾 If you’re looking for someone who will treat your dog like one of their own (I only board ONE guest dog at a time!), I’d love to meet you both!

Schedule

I work for myself and primarily work remotely from home, so I have a very flexible schedule and am home most of the day. If I need to step out for work, it’s usually only for a few hours, and I’m never far from home. I also love being outside, so if your dog is an adventure dog, I’m always happy to have a hiking or outdoor buddy! For dogs who prefer to stay closer to home, my large, fully fenced yard gives them plenty of space to play, sniff, and enjoy some fresh air without needing to go anywhere. I’m happy to match your dog’s routine and personality, whether they want an active day of walks and outdoor adventures or a quieter day of backyard time, naps, and lounging around the house.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety, trust, and creating a comfortable environment are my top priorities when caring for a dog. I know that being in a new home with a new person can be stressful, so I’m patient and give each dog time to settle in and get comfortable at their own pace. I also have personal experience caring for a reactive dog, so I understand the importance of paying attention to body language, respecting boundaries, and being proactive about potential triggers. If a dog is comfortable and enjoys other dogs, I’m happy to gradually introduce them to my German Shepherd, Klaus. If they prefer their own space, my home has plenty of room to keep dogs comfortably separated when needed. I’ll always follow your instructions and prioritize what makes your dog feel safest and most comfortable during their stay.

Pets

A typical day

My goal would be for their typical day to look a lot like it does at home. I’ll follow their normal feeding, exercise, and potty routines as closely as possible, while making sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, outdoor time, and opportunities to relax.

Since I have a dog of my own and two indoor cats, it’s helpful for me to know anything that will make your pet more comfortable and help me give them the best care possible. In particular, I’d love to know if your dog is friendly and comfortable around other dogs and cats, or if they’d prefer their own space. Please also let me know about any food or toy guarding, reactivity, anxiety, separation anxiety, triggers, special needs, medications, escape tendencies, or anything else that could affect their care. The more I know about their personality, routines, and needs ahead of time, the better I can make sure everyone is comfortable and set up for a successful stay!
