I do have a part-time job as a housekeeper, but that is extremely flexible and may not be continuing into the near future. I have no issue keeping to food and exercise schedules, as my days can be worked around that for the most part. I am also a writer, so I would definitely be able to stay at home with the pets that I look after while I work on my own projects, when time allows for it.

I try to cater my method of care around the needs of the pet. If it is an active dog that I am looking after, then I will take it on long walks around the neighborhood or in the park. If the owner has a backyard, I can play fetch and such with the dog, provided the weather allows. Depending on the owner's routine, I can definitely keep a puppy on a schedule with food, playtime, and nap time. I like to spend about twenty to thirty minutes with the animal before the owner leaves so they can warm up to me in an environment where they also have the safety of their person.

A typical day
With dogs, long walks/jogs and games of fetch and tug-of-war with balls and ropes are always winners! I enjoy helping them get their energy out so their parents can hopefully be a little more relaxed around them. With cats, any activities would really depend on their personality, but I'm happy to play with them, give them scratches, or just snuggle with them if that is what they prefer.

Pet care experience
I have lived with dogs since the day I was born. I have always had a passion for working with animals, but dogs have always had a special place in my heart. I moved a lot as a child, but my parents' dog was my best friend that was always there for me. I now have a puppy of my own, and he is my whole world. I have been around dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. I have no issue administering medicine and providing basic grooming such as brushing and teeth cleaning.

Madelyne provided a great first Rover housesitting experience — the dogs seemed to like staying at home instead of boarding somewhere. One of them is particularly anxious, and Madelyne did a great job with him!
