Pet care experience

Pet’s Loyal Emotional Support Human

My services come with over 20 plus years of hands-on personal pet care experience. I've cared for pets professionally and consistently since 2022. I've raised and cared for dogs (from birth to senior), cats (kitten to senior), reptiles, and fish — including large (100+ lbs) and small dog breeds (5 lbs), and short to long-haired domestic cats. My most impactful and educational personal experience was raising my Frenchie from puppyhood all the way through his senior years, which gave me a deep understanding of how a pet's needs change across every life stage, plus the specific needs of bully breeds. I also bring professional experience on top of my extensive personal pet care background. I spent 9 months as Front Desk Reception/Dog Handler at a dog daycare and boarding facility, where I monitored group play and was in-house trained and certified to identify, understand, and respond to a dog's body language efficiently and effectively. These skills translate directly into how I assess if I'm the right fit to care for your pet. They also inform whether an additional meeting with you present would help establish positive association, familiarity, and trust between your pet and I. Also, they shape how I prioritize safety in situations like dog parks or new environments. I also worked front desk at a veterinary clinic for 15 months, where I completed Fear Free training. I'm experienced and comfortable administering medication to both dogs and cats — including pilling and administering liquid medicine — and I currently care for multiple repeat clients whose dogs have emotional or physical special needs requiring medication, specific care protocols, and/or specialty meal prep. I'm Pet CPR certified (currently in the process of re-certifying) and am researching additional education certifications, since pet caregiving is a genuine special interest of mine and I make a point of staying current on developments in the field. I offer feeding, medicating, walks, play, and cuddle time. My time in front desk roles across the pet care industry sharpened my communication skills — I check in frequently and concisely so you're never left wondering how your pet's day is going. I'm flexible with my schedule and available for overnights or extended daytime visits. For pets who do best with no more than 2–4 hours of alone time at a time, I'm happy to build a custom schedule around that — just reach out and we can also discuss compensation for more frequent or extended care.

Safety, trust & environment

Caring for your pet, in your home: When pet sitting in your home, I keep your pet's routine as normal as possible to minimize any anxiety about your absence — think of me as your pet's emotional support human while you're away. It is very helpful to have care instructions in writing, whether that's an e-document or a printed copy — including emergency contacts, regular veterinarian and preferred emergency veterinarian information. We'll go over everything together at the meet and greet, but having it written down as well helps make sure every detail sticks. If you'd like to send documents electronically, I'm happy to share my cell phone number or email with you directly, since attachments sent through the Rover app don't always come through as clickable links on my end. My presence in your home: Your privacy and boundaries come right after your pet's care as my top priorities. I'm a tidy person by nature, so I do make sure to clean up after myself before I leave — vacuuming, dishes, wiping down counters, skins, and tables. I'll also usually start a load of the bed linens I used during my stay (and if I have time I’ll move them to the dryer or fold them) before heading out. I'm naturally check the mailbox and front door to collect mail and packages, and I have basic plant care knowledge, so I don’t mind keeping your plants watered. In winter, I'm also glad discuss if I’m able to shovel or snow-blow for an additional fee.

Madeline had great communication. She regularly sent updates, asked questions, and took initiative to resolve issues that happened during the stay (upset doggy stomach). The pups were happy and our house was in as good of condition as we left it in. She even threw the guest sheets in the wash before she departed. We would definitely use her again!

This was our first time leaving Tilly home on a short weekend trip and Madd made everything so easy for us and did a wonderful job caring for her and our house while we were away. We got thoughtful updates and photos and a homemade snuffle ball (!!!) for our puzzle-loving dog. We really appreciated being able to meet-up prior to the stay, and it was a gift to be able to have an amazing dog whisperer take care of Tilly!

We've used Mad for several drop-by visits and always been highly impressed by Mad's communication and service. This was our first time having Mad stay overnight with our dogs and Mad did an incredible job. Highly communicative and responsive, asked great questions and sent regular photos/updates. We always felt confident in the care our animals were receiving. We came home to a clean house (sheets were even put in the wash!) and happy, relaxed animals. Our dogs aren't exactly "low maintenance" (one has medical needs, one is scared of her own shadow and distrustful of new people) and Mad did beautifully with them. We'll absolutely be using Mad again and feel so lucky our paths have crossed!

Schedule

Pet care is my full-time focus — I work as a professional pet sitter through Rover, so I can fit my schedule to your pet's care schedule, not the other way around. I don't currently have pets of my own, which means my full attention is on the animals I'm caring for. My current mode of transportation around the cities is the Metro Transit Bus System, which keeps me focused on clients within a reliable, walkable/transit-friendly radius — so I'm not stretched thin across a huge service area. I occasionally can have multiple appointments per week (typically not more than 1 or 2) in the Minneapolis/Richfield/Bloomington area. On days when I have an appointment, I may be away from your home for 4-7 hours; if needed, I can break that up so I'm never away for more than 4 hours at a time.

Let me know if your dog/cat has any special needs or behaviors i can account for. Such as, sociability, treat preferences, and which toys are their favorite. Also, I prefer being aware of your regular and emergency veterinarian information at the time of the sitting. You never want any worst case scenario situations to happen yet it’s much better to be prepared for them then to get taken by surprise and not have medical support.
