Information Madeleine M. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know how well trained your dog is before sitting him or her and how well they walk on a leash. I have experience walking very high energy dogs that are large, but I like to get an idea of what a dog is like before walking them. All breeds are welcome but I do have a soft spot for the big guys!
A typical day
I can help clicker train dogs using positive reinforcement. This technique works best on dogs that are food motivated, but can also be used with a favorite toy or praise instead of treats. As for walks, I like to let the dog I'm walking choose the path we take (within reason). I've found that my dogs at home and that I've taken care of in the past have more fun deciding which areas to explore than when we take the same route every time.

Pet care experience
I love animals of all kinds, so much I made it my career! I work as a full-time zookeeper at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and have been here for over 4 years. I have over 20 years of animal care experience that includes growing up caring for dogs and cats, 3 years volunteering at an animal shelter in St. Louis, 4 years pet-sitting on Rover pre-pandemic, and 6 years as a zookeeper. My experience also includes training and administering medications (both pills and injections). While volunteering with the STL County Pet Adoption Center for 3 years, I gained experience working with new dogs on training and going on walks. Most importantly, I learned how to read dogs’ body language and what to do when an unfamiliar dog is around. If I am taking care of your dog I will never let them interact with another dog, familiar or unfamiliar, without your explicit instructions or permission. Your pet’s safety is my utmost priority when they are in my care. My work schedule is 7am-5pm TThFS and 7am-11am W. I am unavailable before work hours, but I am always happy to discuss your pet’s scheduling needs. I love meeting new pets and people and want to help make your pets happy and well cared for. Thanks for reading and I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
Madeline is so lovely, responsible and thoughtful. She helped us with daily drop in visits for our three dogs while we were away for 4 days. She clearly loves animals and made sure we felt comfortable by providing updates/pics and reports on them. Highly recommend her.

Izzy loved her first drop-in visit with Madeleine! They were able to get to know each other at Izzy's pace, which is much appreciated for our timid dog. Madeleine even hand fed Izzy her dinner so they could build trust and bond with each other. We truly appreciate her patience and gentle demeanor!

Madeleine has been amazing! I’ve used her for drop ins and walks for the past 6 months for my now 11 month old Buddy. She is punctual, reliable, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about caring for pets. I mean does it get any better than having a zookeeper take care of your precious fur babies??! Madeleine has also been very helpful with some initial training and always has great recommendations to further benefit my special little guy. Highly recommended!!!
Kyra has found a new friend in Madeleine. She is looking forward to there next visit. Madeleine was on time and very thoughtful with her handling of Kyta. Looking forward to the next visit.
