Safety, trust & environment
I can not keep dogs in my home as our rescue dog is not friendly to other dogs, but I would be happy to care for your pet in your home/neighborhood, which I am sure is the most comfortable environment for them anyway. I love to get my steps in and was an athlete for many years so I can take dogs for short or long walks depending on the owners desired activity level for their pet! I'd be happy to walk around your neighborhood or head over to a local trail or park as well!
Information Maddie S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know of any triggers for reactivity so I can keep your dog and myself safe. I'd also love to know if you use any specific commands so I can keep the consistency in your place. Please note I have dogs leashed at ALL times when out and about. As much as some dogs love being off lead and may be good at recall, for the safety of your pet and other pets, a leash is necessary at all times (this also complies with state and local laws).
A typical day
Lots of walks for sure. Particularly sniff and stop walks as I call them where pets have unlimited time to explore their environment. If we have access to a fenced back yard, I am pretty good at fetch and love to tug. I use lick mats with my dog full of yummy, nutritious foods and frozen for extra mental stimulation.

Pet care experience
I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life - mostly well tempered labs we got as puppies. Now, my husband and I have a pitbull who we rescued a few years ago that has taught us so much about patience and unconditional love. She’s needed a lot of training and nurturing due to her abusive past and we accepted the challenge. Now, I am comfortable with all kinds of training tools such as prong and e-collars, I understand how to read behavior and body language and feel very confident caring for dogs that have different behavioral challenges. I work frequently with a trainer (with 30+ years experience) who has really changed our dog’s life for the better and has taught me how to be a more confident and responsible dog owner/caretaker.
Reviews

This was my first time using Rover, and I’m so glad I got to use Maddie. She took such good care of my dog during their time together. She’s a dog mom through and through and knew all of the important questions to ask before their first walk. She actually went above and beyond on a few occasions 💩. Maddie provided thorough feedback after their walks and alerted me to anything I might need to monitor. I trusted her completely with my dog and my home.
