Pet care experience

Patient, Experienced, Responsible

I grew up in the suburbs with four dogs, three cats, birds, fish, and a rabbit. We loved our little zoo! I have 9+ years of dog-sitting experience, volunteer work, one semester of vet tech study, and two years of fostering. I’ve administered injections, oral medications, prescription baths/ topicals, and basic wound care. When living in LA, I volunteered with multiple LA county shelters, TNR groups, and fostered kittens. In Indiana, I’ve volunteered with nonprofits and local rescue groups. I enjoy visiting animal sanctuaries and learning how they engage their community. While living in NYC for two years, I volunteered at the Upper East Side’s ASPCA and absolutely loved it!

Safety, trust & environment

I prefer to do a meet-and-greet with a new client prior to staying overnight at their home/ hosting. I ask questions about behavior, meet the dog in neutral outdoor territory, and take notes. This also lets me gauge if the job is a safe and aligned fit for both of us. For exercise, I prefer to walk around the neighborhood and nearby parks. I allow for frequent sniff breaks (unless asked not to for training purposes). I'm familiar with different harnesses, muzzle, and collar types. I've passed the Fear Free Shelter course online (teaches proper handling techniques and behavior analysis to reduce animal fear, anxiety, and stress). I’ve also completed training courses for ASPCA’s national deployment program (provides emergency care in the field).

Maddie is an amazing sitter! She was so kind, communicative, took Ollie’s care instructions so well and gave me consistent updates on him. She really went above and beyond and I was not once worried about Ollie not being in good hands. I would definitely have her sit Ollie again!

House Sitting • Mar 12, 2025

I can't thank Maddie enough for her incredible care while dog sitting for George for 9 days. I was very impressed by Maddie's ability to connect with my standoffish dog and build a strong bond. By day 2 George was already obsessed with Maddie, demonstrating her deep dog behavioral knowledge as George has some difficult tendencies that had us hesitant to leave him with a dogsitter. Maddie was able to dispel our concerns through her patient demeanor with George and consistent updates with videos, pictures, and updates. Maddie made it so that we could truly enjoy our vacation. On top of Maddie's fantastic care for George, she was incredibly professional and respectful staying in our apartment. She left the place spotless, and it was clear she treated our home with care. While we were initially uncertain about having someone stay in our apartment, it ended up being a great situation for our dog. Because of Maddie, our first experience using Rover and having a pet/house sitter was extraordinarily positive. We hope that she can watch George again (he would be so excited) and we have already recommended her to all our friends with dogs and can’t stress enough how grateful we are for the peace of mind she provided us. If you’re looking for a dogsitter who is professional, experienced, and genuinely cares about your pet, Maddie is the ideal choice. Thank you, Maddie, for everything!

I boarded my corgi with Maddie over the weekend and she did amazing. She had great attention to detail in every part of taking care of my dog. Additionally, she did a stellar job handling my dog's special medical needs. I can tell my dog was in good care the entire time. I highly recommend Maddie to all pet owners looking for care.

Maddie is a wonderful sitter! I can’t recommend her enough. She took the time to meet me and my pup ahead of time and asked very thoughtful questions about my dog’s care needs. My pup stayed with her while I was out of town for several days, and Maddie couldn’t have made me feel more at ease as she sent me updates throughout my trip. She was very communicative and took such good care of my girl. I came home to a very happy and content pup thanks to Maddie ?

Schedule

I’m currently a caregiver for a chemo patient and work full time at a veterinary clinic (which I absolutely LOVE!). To best balance excellent service and family values, my Rover availability will be limited until January 2026. During house-sitting stays, I like to get outside as much as possible (weather permitting). I do not plan to be gone for more than two hours max if an appointment or errand is needed.

I'd like to be warned of any aggressive behaviors, trigger actions, or habits that a dog may have (chewing, humping, marking territory, wary of other dogs, leash reactive, possessive of toys). If a dog is larger than 40 lbs, then I'd like to be shown that it is leash trained so that I can be comfortable walking and harnessing them. I also want to know if a dog requires trading or a muzzle when leashing. I have experience using a muzzle and understand how it can calm a nervous dog. Just let me know what your dog is most comfortable with. :) Do sudden noises/movements affect the dog? Do they have trigger spots on their body (ex: don’t lean over their head, no reaching across, let them initiate touch first)?
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
