Pet care experience

Experienced, outdoorsy dog lover

What sets me apart is over 20 years of hands-on dog experience across daycare, pet retail, and personal ownership. I've worked at Lexi Dog Daycare in Portland, Meat for Cats & Dogs (a specialty pet food store) while walking dogs on the side, and Moon Dog Lodge here in Tumalo. On top of that professional background, I have direct personal experience caring for dogs with special needs. My Doberman/Rottweiler mix battled an aggressive cancer that led to a leg amputation, and I now care for our 1-year-old Doberman who manages Addison's disease. That experience has made me very comfortable with dogs who need extra attention, medication schedules, mobility limitations, or other special care. I also have experience with senior dogs (my Border Collie is 12 and my Pointer mix is 11) and I'm comfortable with high-energy and working breeds thanks to our Bluetick Coonhound. Whether a dog needs an easy stroll, a good trail run, or a little extra patience and care, I'm equipped to handle it.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

Right now, I offer care exclusively at my clients' homes rather than my own, since I have a lot going on at my own place with my animals and ranch. When I stay at a client's home, I keep to their dog's normal routine as closely as possible — same feeding times, walk schedule, and any specific instructions the owner provides. I treat every home and pet with the same care and attention I'd want for my own. That includes being responsive with updates and photos, keeping the home clean and as I found it, and being attentive to anything specific a dog needs, whether that's medication, mobility considerations, or just extra companionship.

Schedule

I work from home with a flexible schedule, which means pet care is woven into my day rather than squeezed in around a traditional 9-5. I'm able to offer walks and drop-ins at various times throughout the day — not just the typical early morning or evening windows. Animal care is already part of my daily rhythm. I have dogs of my own and spend time outdoors with them every day, regardless of weather. I'm also an avid outdoors person, so trail runs, hikes, and walks are activities I genuinely look forward to — not obligations — whether it's my own dog or someone else's.
