Hey there! My name is MacKenna, and my pup Daisy and I can't wait for your dog(s) to stay with us. I grew up with various breeds and sizes of dogs such as blue and red heelers, border collie's, labs, rottweilers, a Shih Tzu, and a pug to name a few, and I have cared for or been exposed to every farm animal under the sun. Daisy is my 3 year old female German shepherd with the warmest temperament of any shepherd you’ll ever meet! She is friendly, playful, and independent. She will be your dogs best friend or keep to herself - once they set the tone, she respects it. Adopting her has been an incredibly rewarding journey thus far of positive reinforcement training, practicing patience, and keeping a grounded nervous system that dogs respond well to. We are constantly on hikes, exploring new trails, and Daisy is very calm and reserved with more anxious or reactive dogs. We have the luxury of having a trail to ourselves behind my place where we can off leash run several times a day. If your dog is older, slower, and just wants to chill, we are super happy to do that as well. I don't mind having a rest day either! Looking after other peoples dogs and giving them the utmost love, attention, and exercise while in my care is one of my greatest joys. We hope to meet you soon!

Charlie was excited to see MacKenna and Daisy when we dropped him off for boarding, easing our guilt of leaving Charlie behind. MacKenna was very responsive, and made pick up and drop off a breeze. I would happily let MacKenna babysit out little buddy again.
Mackenna was great! Our dog can take a bit to warm up to new people but they got along great. We loved the updates!
Mackenna was amazing! So responsive and sent photo updates. The little ladies obviously had a fabulous time as they are tuckered right out. Next time I am in Nelson, I will definitely use Mackenna again - wish she lived in Vancouver!
Mackenna was awesome with Alma. She gave me just the right amount of updates and I never felt worried. She was comfortable handling Alma even with all her quirks. She was also flexible on drop off and pick up. Would definitely leave Alma with her in the future!
Mackenna is an incredible Rover! We felt like our dog Uinta had a better time with her than he does sitting at home with us! He got to go on horseback rides, and there’s a trail behind her house that’s perfect for quick walks. Uinta was so tired when we picked him up. He clearly had a great time with Mackenna. Thank you so much!

Schedule
Making sure the my own dog and the owns I am watching are exercised, comfortable, and happy is my highest priority before going on with anything else on my day.

Leaving your animals in the care of another does not have to be a stressful experience, for you or your animals. With vast animal handling and caretaking experience coupled with unyielding love for pets that aren't even mine, you will be ease knowing you are leaving your beloved pet in the care of someone who is truly comfortable with all temperaments, who is adaptable to their needs, and loves getting out for walks more than they do.

A typical day
The great thing about Nelson is the accessibility and variety of awesome trails in the vicinity. As someone who is constantly out and about walking with dogs, I enjoy a frequent change of scenery so I am always exploring new routes to better enrichen both mine and the dogs walking experience! I can adapt our walks to best suit the dogs needs -- I have easy, medium, and hard options as well as trails better suited for reactive or anxious dogs.
