Pet care experience

For pet’s sake!

Hi! I’m Lyra — a lifelong animal lover with over six years of dog-training experience and a huge soft spot for every dog I meet. I grew up with a Whippet/Husky mix who was part of my family for 18 years, so dogs have always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve gained experience caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, energy levels, and personalities — from puppies learning their first skills to high-energy dogs who thrive with structure and enrichment. My dog-training background is based in positive reinforcement, including clicker training. I’m comfortable reinforcing basic obedience, puppy and crate training, leash manners, recall, impulse control, shaping, and relaxation skills. I’m also comfortable administering medications and following any established routines or training you already have in place. Outside of Rover, I work full-time as a Content Coordinator with the Mental Health Foundation. I work from home on Mondays and Fridays, so Friday through Monday is ideal for dogs who enjoy having someone home with them for much of the day. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, I work on-site full-time, so I am best suited to dogs who are comfortable being home alone for a standard workday on those days. I’m always transparent about my schedule before accepting a booking so we can make sure your dog’s needs and my availability are a great match. When I’m caring for your dog, I want them to feel as comfortable and loved as they would with you. That means plenty of walks, play, enrichment, training when appropriate, treats, cuddles, and — just as importantly — downtime and relaxation. I love learning each dog’s individual personality and adapting my care accordingly. I know how much trust it takes to leave both your dog and your home in someone else’s hands, and I take that responsibility seriously. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away knowing your best friend is safe, happy, loved, and very well cared for. I’d love to meet you and your canine pal! 🐾❤️

Safety, trust & environment

I love keeping dogs both physically active and mentally engaged. I use positive-reinforcement techniques, including clicker training and shaping games, to make learning fun and rewarding. Depending on your dog’s personality and energy level, I’m happy to incorporate activities such as tug, fetch, enrichment games, neighbourhood walks, and other forms of play into their routine. I always tailor activities to what your dog enjoys and is comfortable with, while making sure they also get plenty of time to relax and settle. 🐾

If you go through Lyra’s reviews you will already see how I sing her praises. She’s incredible and I feel so blessed to have her watch my dogs over the past few years. She is an angel and treats our family like her own. My dogs love her and are so excited when she comes to house sit. This time, to no fault of Lyra’s, there was a life threatening medical emergency for one of my dogs. We were unfortunately not reachable at the time and she immediately took her to the vet which saved my dog’s life. Our pets could not be in better hands and we love this woman with all of my heart. 💜💜

Lyra is awesome with our two big crazy dogs. They require a ton of extra work and a great deal of knowledge and patience. She does a ton of training with them, and sends lots of pictures and updates. We always come back to them tired and happy, and we look forward to booking with her again!

We went with Lyra again for an extended weekend trip and honestly we couldn’t be happier. She communicates consistently and loves our dogs. Our home is always left in tip top condition and our girls are tired. She especially takes a lot of time and has so much patience for our dog with medical issues and leash reactivity. I will forever sing her praises from the rooftops. We adore you Lyra!!

Schedule

Pet care continues to be a big part of my life alongside my full-time career. I work from home on Mondays and Fridays, which gives me lots of flexibility for walks, playtime, training, cuddles, and companionship throughout the day. On Tuesdays through Thursdays, I work on-site, so I’m happy to care for dogs who are comfortable being home during a standard workday. Evenings and weekends allow for plenty of dedicated walks, enrichment, training, and quality time. I genuinely love incorporating dogs into my routine and always make sure their individual needs are prioritized while they’re in my care. 🐾
