Safety, trust & environment

Your dogs safety and needs will be my top priority. Outside of the home, your dog will always be on a leash. If your dog is crate trained, or has specific environmental needs, I will make sure to keep those routines so the dog feels safe. Please know that I care and love dogs deeply, and am of the mind that a dog is calmest and on its best behavior when it’s human can provide it structure and “discipline” (ie show the dog the human is in charge). My kids have been taught to respect a dogs space and how to properly approach a dog. Please know that any dog in my care (via house sitting or walking) will be well loved, treated with respect and receive plenty of walks and playtime.

Information Lynda L. would like to know about your pet

Let me know of any special needs, medicines, typical routine/schedule, the dogs energy level, etc. I’m accepting of all breeds and dogs up to 100lbs.

A typical day

I don’t think there is a general typical day, I think much of it depends on the dog. For instance my approach to a high energy dog, which as a husky, would be quite different than my approach to a senior dog. I would make sure each dogs needs are met, whether it’s long walks, short walks, a hike in the woods, a visit to a dog park, etc. I would take my cues from the information you would provide and from the dog.

Dog loving family

Pet care experience

I’ve been a dog lover for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a small dog from the time I was born through elementary school, and once I went off to college in 2000, I would do everything possible to hang out with friends dogs. Upon moving back to the Philly region in 2007, I started dog sitting and walking for a friend until 2010 when I had a place of my own, at which time I started with fostering dogs having up to 4 dogs at a time. During that time I become a dog parent myself to 1 and then 2 dogs. When I became pregnant with twins, I stopped fostering and then raised my twins with 2 big dogs by their side. During this time I would also dog sit a neighbors dog, and would have 3 large dogs to take care of. I have trained the foster dogs and then my adopted dogs anywhere from 12 weeks through 3 years, most who had experienced neglect and trauma, so I’ve had many experiences with dogs. A friend recommended I use rover as she knows how much I miss having a dog around and the joy a dogs presence gives me. Outside of appointments and driving my kids places after school, I am home, so I have lots of availability to play with dogs, take dogs on walks and have them overnight. I have experience with getting dogs to take medicine, experience with dogs who will eat everything in sight, experience with crate trained dogs, dogs who are house-trained, but not crate trained, and dogs who aren’t trained at all (but at this time, I can not take on the latter for house sitting in my home). I have experience with dogs who are frightened of loud noises (fireworks, thunderstorms, yelling), dogs who are always the shadow next to you and so much more. If your pup is used to sleeping in bed, we have 4 people (3 kids and myself) who would be happy to make that happen. I would love to take care of your fur-baby whether it’s a drop-in visit, a walk, doggie daycare or overnight stays in my home.

Communication wasn't the best, but I picked up Brody happy and healthy after a week at Lynda's.
