I love dogs of all kinds, all ages and all sizes, and I have taken care of many over my lifetime. Senior dogs (and their owners) have been especially happy with their stays here. At my house dogs get lots of walking (and talking), and play time, plus lots of time just hanging out in the family room with us. Guest dogs will have the run of my home. I board only one dog at a time -- or two from the same household - so they get a lot of care and attention. I'll send a daily report about how your dog has been spending their time and how they are doing. This will include a few photos of course. My last dog, Peace, was a blonde golden retriever who had been a loving support to my mom. When she came to live with me I gave her a retirement fit for the queen that she was. We had some wonderful years together during which we walked all over Cathedral Hill and met hundreds of dogs and people. It was the best. But, when I travelled I really struggled to find an accommodation for her that made me feel okay about leaving her behind. My hope is to give you peace of mind by providing a safe and friendly place for your dog. This is also how I get my dog fix:-)

I don't work at a job so I have a lot of time for your visiting dog. That means I can create a routine that fits their needs and makes them comfortable.

Safety, trust & environment
My home is quiet and peaceful and your dog is treated like one of the family. I have a yard where we will sometimes sit and enjoy the day (it is also perfect for early morning and before-bed potty breaks). The yard is shared with my townhome association so I am not able to allow dogs to roam freely. Instead, most walks are around the neighborhood around Summit Hill and Cathedral Hill. I usually walk morning, midday, and late afternoon but I am happy to customize the number and the timing of our walks.
A typical day
The main activity at my house is walking. Walks are varied in pace depending on your preference. They can be brisk exercise walks or slow walks that allow for lots of sniffing. Most of my dog guests follow me around the house as I do whatever I've got going that day and I appreciate the company.

- I need to know scheduling basics about when the dog should eat, how often they need to go outside, and where they would prefer to sleep. It is also important to know if they are friendly with people and other dogs. Plus, any other special needs, likes, or dislikes. I prefer not to take dogs who are aggressive with other dogs as we will pass many other dogs when walking in my busy neighborhood. I am not comfortable taking dogs over 70 pounds unless they are extremely gentle and slower moving. It is important for all parties- sitter, owner, and dog - that we have a meet and greet prior to a first time stay. So please allow time for this when booking.
