My Passion: Animals Big & Small

Animals have always been woven into the fabric of my life, and caring for them feels as natural to me as breathing. When pets stay in my home, they’re welcomed with genuine love, patience, and compassion. Years of close observation and daily interaction have taught me how to understand their personalities, anticipate their needs, and help them feel completely at ease. I’ve raised well‑adjusted, highly socialized dogs ranging from tiny 10‑pound companions to gentle 200‑pound giants, and each one has shaped my experience in meaningful ways. Over the years, I’ve also cared for sick animals, administered injections, bathed dogs more times than I can count, and trained and shown many others. Providing thoughtful, attentive care isn’t just something I do — it’s something I truly value.

This was our first experience with Rover and Lydia, and everything went perfectly. We had a meet and greet with Lydia a few days before Alika came to stay with her. We really liked that Alika would be staying in a home with a lovely backyard to play in. We could tell that Lydia really understands dog behavior. Alika had a great first experience and we look forward to more stays with Lydia.

Huge thanks to Lydia for watching our baby at the last-minute notice! She sent photos throughout the entire time and our dog clearly felt comfortable. We will definitely have barley stay with her again.

Lydia treats Yokai as her own; it's his second home. I actually think he is a little depressed when we pick him up because he doesn't have his "buddies" to play with at her house.

Lydia is the most caring person and she’s so peaceful that our dogs also relax with her. We know they always have a good time when they’re with her and that gives us peace of mind too.

Lydia treats Yokai as her own and he loves it there. I'm glad that he remembers us when we pick him up! Best sitter for our dog who we now rely on without hesitation.

Schedule

Pet care is woven into the rhythm of my days. Because I work from home and spend most weekends here, caring for animals fits seamlessly into my routine. I’m able to give my guests consistent attention throughout the day, whether that means feeding them on schedule, taking them out for breaks, or simply offering companionship while I work. Their needs shape the flow of my mornings and evenings, and I genuinely enjoy building my day around keeping them comfortable, happy, and never alone.

Safety, trust & environment

My approach is rooted in attentiveness, patience, and genuine affection. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and included in the household's flow. I follow their established routines with the same care and consistency they would receive at home. Guests become part of the daily rhythm — they stay close by while I work, enjoy regular outdoor breaks, receive two feedings a day, and are never left alone. Whether it’s feeding, medication, playtime, or quiet companionship, I tailor my care to each animal's needs so they feel at ease.

Pets

A typical day

I love finding simple, joyful ways to make each pet’s stay feel special. Depending on their personality and energy level, we might enjoy playful games of fetch or gentle tug‑of‑war. For dogs who love to explore and socialize, my large backyard offers plenty of space to run, play, and take in the day's scents. For more mellow guests, we might spend time lounging together, enjoying belly rubs, brushing, or quiet companionship while I work. I always tailor activities to each pet’s favorite things, making sure they feel engaged, happy, and completely at home.

To give every guest the best possible care, I like to learn a bit about their routines, preferences, and personality before they arrive. Understanding their habits, comfort needs, and any special instructions helps me make their stay smooth, safe, and enjoyable.
