Pet care experience
College Student/Dog Lover
I grew up with intelligent dog breeds. When I was little we had Huskies, and German Shepards. Then In high school I got two Australian Shepards within the span of 2 years, and trained them both. I have since adopted an elderly Australian Shepard, and a Cavapoo so now I have 4 dogs. I am a winter sports fan, and an avid hiker, I love the outdoors, and the cold. I have dog friendly transportation. I live on campus, but I am in faculty apartment on the first floor, so it is dog friendly, has direct outside access for potty breaks, and is separate from students, so no loud noises, and very little foot traffic. I am currently a volunteer and the Potsdam Humane Society, and I am Shelter Learniverse Certified, and Fear Free Pets Certified for training, socializing, and handling reactive and large breeds.
Qualifications
Ratings and reviews
Lydia was really great with our nervous dog Blue. She was very pleasant to organize with, she was flexible and on time. Given how nervous he was, it was a miracle she was still able to give us some free time to watch our son's tennis match. She definitely has a lot of dog management skills and her calm nature made it easier for me to let him go despite his fear. I will definitely be booking more walks with Lydia in the future!

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I have grown up handling dogs my entire life, and I currently have 4 dogs back at home. I have been a volunteer at animal shelters for over 6 years. I am no stranger to special needs dogs, elderly dogs, pets with very specific dietary needs, aggressive/highly reactive dogs, large dogs over 100lbs, and high energy breeds. I have owned and cared for dogs with all of these quirks, and they need love and attention too. I make it a priority to monitor energy and stress levels in my own pets, and respond accordingly to make sure that they are always happy and comfortable. I believe schedule is very important with pets and will maintain the level of care for your pets that I do for my own.
Pets
A typical day
I love the outdoors, so I love taking pups, hiking, trail running, and cross country skiing. I also strongly believe that mental stimulation is just as important as physical, so I love to introduce games, and fun training exercises, with plenty of treat motivation.
