Safety, trust & environment
When I’m looking after pets in their own home, I do everything I can to keep things calm, familiar, and stress-free - just how they like it. I follow your routine closely, whether that’s feeding, walks, cuddles, or playtime, and always take the time to get to know your pet’s personality so they feel safe and understood. I also treat your home with total respect — I make sure things stay clean, tidy, and secure, and I’ll always leave things just as I found them (or better!). I’m fully insured, DBS checked, and trained in pet first aid, with lots of experience caring for animals of all sorts, including rescue dogs and pets with quirks or extra needs. You can count on me to be reliable, thoughtful, and to treat your pets (and home) like my own.
Information Lydia C. would like to know about your pet
The more I know ahead of time, the better I can care for your pet, so don’t worry about oversharing! Things like their routine, personality, quirks, what they love (and what they don’t), are all super helpful. I especially like to know if they have any medical issues, reactivity, fears, or behaviours to watch out for - no judgement at all, it just helps me keep them safe and happy. The little details make a big difference! During our meet & greet, I'll go over my list of questions, so don't worry if you forget to ask something - I'll likely have it covered! 💚
A typical day
Every day is a little different depending on the pet and that’s part of the fun! Dog walks are tailored to their pace, personality, and, of course, what you've requested. That might mean a sniffari stroll around the neighbourhood, a quiet woods walk for nervous dogs, or some games and training to let out some energy and tire their brain as well as their body! I keep things calm, consistent, and always led by what makes them feel happy and safe. For home visits, it's all about keeping their routine as normal as possible - food, fuss, cleaning up, toilet breaks, and a bit of company while you're out. Plus, there’s always time for a cuddle (if they’re into that!).

Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Lydia — full-time animal carer! Based in Hedge End, I offer dog walking and pet care backed by years of hands-on experience, training, and a genuine love for animals of all shapes and sizes. I live with my lovely rescue dog Buzz, and two house rabbits, Apollo and Willow. ⭐I’m fully insured, DBS checked, and qualified in: • CPD-Certified Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Diploma • Pet Psychology Diploma • Pet First Aid • Level 3 Small Animal Care & Welfare (in progress) • Applied Zoopharmacognosy (natural wellbeing support) 💚On Rover, I offer: • One-to-one dog walking • Pet sitting in your home • Photos & written update after every visit or walk • Experience with reactivity, rescue dogs, and special needs pets • A no-pressure, friendly meet and greet before we get started **Please note, I cannot walk your dog if they do not have an up to date tag and collar or microchip (or a veterinary exemption letter). Both of these are a legal requirement for all dogs in the UK.** Before starting Hoppiness Pet Care (est. 2025), I worked for 6 years in conservation comms (it even took me to Kenya!), followed by freelance work supporting holistic animal health professionals. I’ve also supported a U.S.-based dog rescue, helping to foster up to 15 dogs at once (a large home, with lots of hands to help!) & many pups with medical and behavioural needs. So, whether your dog is confident, nervous, energetic, or reactive, I’ve probably met one like them before, and i’ll make sure they feel comfy and safe! If you're needing a kind, dependable walker or sitter who gets that pets are family, I’d love to chat and see if we’re a good fit 🥰
