Pet care experience
Calm quiet home while you're away!
I've had a lifelong love of animals and have always had pets growing up. In addition to caring for my own pets and those of friends/neighbors, I have volunteered at local shelters over the years to socialize and walk dogs waiting for their forever homes. Your dog will be cared for like it's my own. I work from home Monday through Friday so your pup will get plenty of attention and affection. I typically do two walks a day, mid-morning and early evening, plus backyard play (and potty breaks) throughout the day. With this flexibility, I can easily accommodate your pup's schedule/needs. On weekends, we typically venture out a bit to the waterfront, dog park, or a nearby hike. I will do everything I can to make sure your dog has a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I have a fully fenced in yard, floor to ceiling windows from which to survey and monitor any passersby, birds, squirrels, etc., and plenty of room to roam inside. I am happy to crate your dog if preferred, otherwise they will have the same unrestricted access as my own dog. I have a medium energy, roughly five year old blue heeler mix to keep your dog company.

We love Lydia. Our border collie has separation issues and she was able to navigate them with ease (at least she made it sound easy). Great backyard and easy drop-off and pick-up. Seamless! Highly recommend.

Our dog loved staying with Lydia. She came home relaxed and happy. Lydia’s communication helped us feel like she was in a good place. So happy we found her for our dog!

My dog, Maple, had a great time with Lydia. Lydia was prompt and clear with communication and sent me plenty of pictures while I was gone.

A typical day
A typical day starts 6:30-7:00am with a cuddle and potty relief in the back yard followed by breakfast. After breakfast, we settle into the living room for morning tea watching the sun come up out the large picture windows. After a few hours of work/snoozing in the office or watching passersby out the living room window, we go for a walk around the park adjacent to my home. Between meetings, we'll play ball in the backyard or a game of tug. Once work is wrapped up, we're out for our second walk (usually a bit longer) through the neighborhood and more play in the backyard if there is excess energy. Dinner happens around 6/6:30 and then we hang out/snuggle in the living room until it's time for bed.
