I use a crate for my own dog at night in our household but understand not all people do the same so can easily adapt to what your “rules” are. I believe in positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviours and think punishment is not something to be justified in any circumstance. I have a fenced garden and know the importance of checking for closed gates as I personally don’t fancy chasing after the second fastest land mammal 🤣!

A typical day

I love to take the dogs on walks letting them guide the way on where they want to sniff. I also think playtime is a great way to keep them stimulated. And of course giving them some affection!

I first met Luke when, as a teenager, he brought his greyhound, Magic, to fund raising events in Sefton park for the greyhound Trust. Even when young he took full responsibility for caring for his own dog. More recently he has become a volunteer with the greyhound rehoming charity, Home Run Hounds North West. The volunteers who have worked with him so far have said that he has been an absolute godsend. He mucks in with anything that needs doing, steps in to fill shift shortages with little notice and is kind and compassionate to our greyhound kennel kids. I would be very happy for him to look after my Hounds at some point in the future or to foster one of the kennel hounds. Luke is a valuable asset to us and has picked up new skills quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend him to you.

Luke has helped to look after our rescue greyhound for the last 6 years . He has great knowledge of all the different factors involved in caring for a dog such as feeding , dental-care , grooming and separation-anxiety . Luke has good understanding of different breeds of dogs and how some need extra care if they are nervous or have medical conditions.
