Pet care experience

Local dog walker - keeping those tails wagging!

I grew up with labradors, so I've been around dogs for as long as I can remember! Unfortunately I currently live in a flat which doesn't allow pets, so I really get a lot of value from walking and playing with local dogs. I have lots of experience in looking after and walking dogs for friends, family, and neighbours - dogs of various breeds (incl. labrador, golden retriever, collie, lurcher, chow chow, bedlington terrier, king charles & cocker spaniels) and ages, young and old. Check out my photos to see some of the dogs I've walked / taken care of (shared with owner permission). Every pup is different, so I'm happy to work with you to meet your individual needs to ensure that your dog is safe, happy and cared for!

Luke has taken care of two of my dogs over the last few years. My first was Jake who was an older boy at 15. As he got older and had illness/physical aging slow him down, Luke was brilliant at adapting to his needs and taking him on shorter walks focused more on smelling and sightseeing instead of running/playing fetch. After Jakey unfortunately passed away, we got Poncho. He is a Lab x Staffy mix, and is a puppy - aka a recipe for chaos! We took him in from the age of 6 months, and he had a lot of behavioural issues and difficulty going on walks due to anxiety. Luke has also been brilliant with him. Luke checks in with me quite often and I can tell he pays attention to Poncho's needs, so I'm never worried about something bad happening. The progress our boy has made over the last 3 months has been outstanding and I know we wouldn't be where we are without Luke. Can't recommend him enough!

Luke is absolutely brilliant with animals - he seems to have an aura that just makes them feel safe and happy! I have seen Luke walk and care for dogs of a variety of sizes (and behaviours) and he has been great with all of them. When our family dog was in his last weeks, Luke was incredibly gentle and comforting, and helped to administer oral medications and support our dog physically with getting outside when he struggled to walk. I can also vouch for Luke being incredibly kind, punctual and organised. He will stick to any particular timings or requirements your pets may have. I would have no hesitation whatsoever asking Luke to walk/house sit/interact with any pets at all, he is just amazing :)

Calendar and availability

Schedule

My work patterns vary but at minimum I'm usually free during the day on a couple of Fridays a month and most Saturdays. Happy to compare calendars to see where other days could work too.

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

I have a sturdy longline lead for dogs who are more timid or don't have strong recall, so they can still stretch their legs and get those all-important sniffs in. I have experience with safe medication management, can provide photo and video updates, and I am happy to work with you and your individual pup's needs.

A typical day

I'm based near to Roundhay Park, which provides huge space to explore, run around and get sniffing. I am also familiar with more secluded local fields and paths for dogs that would benefit from walking in quieter spaces. I always bring healthy treats, water and a first aid kit wherever I go. I can do home visits to check in on your dog, feed meals, provide medication and of course provide playtime & cuddles too. My aim is to keep to a familiar routine that works for you and your dog, to help them to feel relaxed and secure whilst in my care.
