Being around them feels very natural to me, and I genuinely enjoy their company and the routines that come with caring for them. After recently losing my cat of 18 years, I’ve been missing the presence of an animal in my daily life. Pet sitting feels like a meaningful way to reconnect with that while also supporting others in my community with the care of their pets. I work from home, which allows me to have a flexible schedule and be present throughout the day. I’m also very active and enjoy walking, so I’m happy to keep dogs exercised and engaged. I have experience caring for senior cats with special needs, including administering medication, and understand the patience and attentiveness that requires. I am very responsible and reliable, and I will treat your pet as if they were my own—with care, respect, and genuine affection.

Lucy is so wonderful with my cats! I have two senior cats and one younger cat, and Lucy is adaptable to all of their needs — lots of play with the little guy, soft pets and cuddles with the older ones. They have a particular feeding routine, and one of my cats takes a couple of medications, but I can relax when I’m away knowing that Lucy has it all handled. She has even handled some extra tasks from time to time, like tending to my plants. I can’t recommend her enough!

Schedule
I work from home and do freelance work, so my schedule is quite flexible and allows me to be fully present and attentive throughout the day. Pet care would fit naturally into my routine, whether that’s regular walks, companionship, or simply being around to keep pets comfortable and cared for.

Safety, trust & environment
My approach to interacting with animals is to establish trust as early as possible by allowing them to lead the way within their own comfort and safety level. Some pets are naturally outgoing and simply need consistency and care, while others take more time to build a connection. In those cases, I believe it’s important that they feel in control of the pace and know that trust will be built on their terms. In my own home, I create a calm, safe space where they can feel secure and at ease, with room to explore at their own pace as their needs are met. I try to support curiosity in a gentle way, always guided by their comfort. In a pet’s home, I make it a priority to understand where their safe space or sanctuary is, and to respect that fully. I give them time to adjust—letting them become familiar with my presence, scent, and voice—while consistently meeting their needs in a calm and respectful manner.
Pets
A typical day
This is their time, and I let each pet set the pace. For dogs, walks are relaxed and guided by their curiosity—they’re free to stop, sniff, explore, and take in their surroundings for as long as they need. We can also play with their favourite toys, enjoy games like chasing or gentle obstacle-style play, and keep things fun and engaging. I like to vary routes when possible so they get new sights, smells, and stimulation, with positive reinforcement, encouragement, and treats along the way. At home, whether with cats or dogs, time can include whatever they’re most comfortable with—quiet companionship, cuddle time, interactive play, grooming, or simply being present in a calm and reassuring way. My goal is always to make them feel safe, happy, and fully cared for.
