I am a high school science teacher with true passion for the earth and being outside! This love of nature is coupled with a love of adventure and dogs are the perfect adventure buddies in my opinion! Your dog will be welcomed to the pack that Kayah (my Labrador) and I have created and brought along on our daily adventures, whether that be a local walk or a hike in the mountains! I walk my own dog twice a day - a short (20-30 minutes) walk in the morning before work and then a longer walk (1- 1 & 1/2 hours) after work. The longer walk includes some off-leash playtime in a safe area! On weekends I like to get out and explore so hikes are my ideal form of exercise. Hikes are anywhere from 5-10 miles (depending on the conditions). I always pack extra water for the pups and of course snacks for the trail!

I live in a pet-friendly apartment in Eagle River, AK (just outside of Anchorage). I maintain a clean home and make sure there is nothing that dogs could potentially chew on or hurt themselves on while unsupervised. Dogs in my home have hang out space in the living room where I have a dog bed, a crate (for more of a “den” experience), and a couch that they are welcome to be on. Dogs are also welcome in my bedroom where I have another dog bed. Safety is a priority for me for all dogs. I have the local emergency pet hospital numbers and addresses saved in my phone and posted on my refrigerator just in case. While my own dog and I have worked extensively on recall, I never let a new dog off-leash in an open/ potentially hazardous location. I do have a long-lead for sniffing and playtime (only used when not actively walking). This ensures pups can have a bit more freedom while also making sure they are always safe and in my control. I also have a pet-cam so that I can keep an eye on things while I am away/ at work. I always encourage clients to bring whatever home “comforts” their dog might want. I am happy to house your dog’s crate, another bed, blanket, etc.

Information Lucy C. would like to know about your pet
What kind of dog do you have? How old is she/ he? What sort of temperament does she/ he have? Does she/ he get along with other dogs? Is she/ he spayed/ neutered? How is she/ he on leash? Off leash? How is her/ his recall? What sorts of activities do you regularly do with your dog and what would make your dog feel more at ease with me? Does your dog have any physical limitations (that might prevent them from going on longer excursions)?
A typical day
In the mornings, Kayah and I will go for a 20-30 minute short structured leash walk so that she can take care of business and get some sniffs in before I go to work. When I get home, we get outside for a longer (1-1 & 1/2 hour) walk on local trails. This walk is what I call a sandwich walk: Starts and ends with structured leash time and she gets off-leash playtime in the middle! On the weekends, I like to get out of town a bit more and into the mountains for longer hikes (usually between 5-10 miles depending on the conditions). Dogs I’ve boarded fit right in with our pack schedule and I love the company for my own dog!

Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of our family’s dogs, including obedience training, since I was 8 years old. I now have my own chocolate Labrador named Kayah. I’m responsible and trustworthy and truly love animals (especially dogs) of all shapes and sizes. I believe in providing a platform for animals to live their best lives and I know that exercise is a huge part of that! My own dog and I walk, jog, and/or hike for about a hour and a half everyday and I would be thrilled to include your precious four-legged family member(s) in on the fun!
Reviews

Lucy did a great job watching Millie. She kept us updated with any issue that came up. We appreciate how she communicated with us in keeping Millie heathy and well.

Lucy was awesome with Ace as he adjusted to a new environment and Kiya is a great playmate! He looked like he was loved and well taken care of when I picked him up!

We love Lucy and so do Bella and Hal! She takes wonderful care of our dogs. She is so attentive and you can tell she truly cares about the dogs she is watching. Officially our #1 dog sitter❤️

Lucy was great with my dog. prompt and efficient communication and i immediately knew that my pup would be in good hands. her dog, Kai, was very sweet. i will definitely book with Lucy again!
