I’ve personally had dogs with very different personalities and comfort levels, which has taught me how important it is to read each dog and respect their boundaries. One of my dogs growing up was uncomfortable with new people at first but became incredibly loving once properly introduced, so I learned not to simply walk into a dog’s space and expect immediate trust. Another of my dogs loves having people in the home but is much more uncomfortable around people while out on walks. These experiences have taught me to pay attention to body language, introductions, triggers, and the environment rather than assuming a dog will react the same way in every situation. I follow each owner’s instructions closely and prioritize making their dog feel safe, secure, and comfortable. I’ll even do the silly things our dogs make us do. Like microwave their food.
