Rescue/Shelter Caregiver & Trainer

Hiii animal lovers! I'm a former NYC rescue/shelter caregiver. I am GoodPup Certified(GCT) and Fear Free Shelters certified in positive reinforcement training practices. I spent the past 5 years working as a Senior Caregiver in a NYC rescue organization. Rescue/Shelter work gave me varied experience with dogs and cats of all ages and temperaments. I am comfortable with both dogs and cats, small to large breeds, and from newborn to elderly. I have treated various kinds of medical conditions ranging from ear and eye infections, skin conditions, post op care, newborn care, and more. I’m also comfortable with deaf or visually impaired animals. My position taught me how to use my positive reinforcement training skills in my everyday interactions with our dogs and cats. This is the approach I take with all animals in my care because it works. Fear Free training is an approach that considers the emotional impact of our actions on the animals in our care. It teaches us how to use stress reduction techniques in all our interactions with them. A shelter is a very stressful place for any animal, so these techniques really help to reduce their anxiety. It is my job to make an animal more comfortable with me and the environment; and I absolutely love this work! Seeing an animal open up to me is the best feeling in the world, and one that I honor by treating them with respect. They are individuals and deserve to be treated as such. I read their body language and use that as a guide on how to approach or interact with them. I’d love to hear about your pets and look forward to meeting some new munchkins!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety will always be my number one priority. We can’t walk, play or have any fun if we are not in a safe space first. I adore meeting people’s pets and hearing about the things that make them special and a member of the family. Let me know if your pet displays any reactivity. I can look out for these triggers on our walk.

Lori was amazing with my rescue pup. Lori did an overnight stay for a weekend and has done some house sitting visits during the day with him. I felt very comfortable letting her stay in my apartment; everything is always clean and as is when I return. My dog was recovering from an upset stomach when Lori stayed with him, and she monitored him closely and kept me up-to-date. She also worked on getting him more comfortable walking outside since he can get a bit nervous on walks. I will definitely be booking with Lori again.

Lori was a dream! On time, communicative, and even came for a helpful meet and greet in advance of our house sitting booking. Highly recommend!

Lori LOVES pets. She is always on time. She always gets back to me when I call or text. She makes time to care for my dog. I can tell my dog has been cared for when she comes back from being with Lori. Lori makes sure she is fed, gets outside to be walked and get exercise and is loved. You can just tell that she is an animal lover when you meet her. I highly recommend Lori to care for your pet.

I'm currently working part time. My schedule is fairly open but will change as I take on more walking and training work. I'd like to start with walking, drop ins, and boarding services. I will eventually add training services as well.

over 101 lbs
Lori can host up to 2 drop-ins per day
Let me know if your dog displays any reactivity to stimuli. This can include things like bikes, skateboards, tall people, etc… This will help me to keep them safe on our walk but also keep them comfortable. If I can look out for their triggers, it can help us avoid them. I’m also able to work with them on any reactivity issues they may experience. This was one of my responsibilities in my former role in rescue so I’m very comfortable with reactive animals. I’ve worked with hundreds of dogs and cats and am confident I’ll be able to keep your pet safe and happy in my care.
