I’m recently retired, which allows me to offer steady, unhurried, fully present care for the animals I look after. When I’m not volunteering in Asia or Costa Rica, I work quietly from home doing computer-based volunteer work — which means your pet will have company, consistency, and a peaceful environment throughout the day. Because my schedule is flexible, I’m able to take dogs out for frequent walks, playtime, and pee breaks, tailored to their age and energy level. I’m equally happy to spend long, calm stretches with small dogs or cats curled up on my lap. I genuinely enjoy the simple companionship of animals, whether that means gentle snuggles, quiet presence, or attentive support for senior pets needing extra patience. My home routine is calm, predictable, and nurturing — ideal for pets who thrive with kindness, attentiveness, and a steady rhythm.

A typical day

A typical day with your pet is calm, structured, and tailored to their needs. Morning: I start with a friendly greeting, fresh water, and breakfast according to their usual routine. Small dogs get a potty break and a short walk, while cats enjoy breakfast and some gentle attention or playtime. Midday / Playtime: Pets have time for interactive play — chasing toys, fetch, or engaging games like Lily’s “making the bed” game. For more relaxed pets, this could be lap cuddles, brushing, or quiet companionship. Any medications or special care needs are attended to as scheduled. Afternoon: Another potty break for dogs and some exploration or supervised outdoor time if safe. Cats and small dogs enjoy rest periods, nap spots, or quiet play. I monitor all pets for comfort, mood, and any health concerns. Evening: Dinner is served according to their usual routine. For cats, fresh litter and water are checked; for dogs, a potty break and some gentle play or cuddles to wind down. I provide updates and photos to pet parents throughout the day. Bedtime potty break. Throughout the day, pets are never left alone for long periods. The schedule is flexible and adjusted to each pet’s personality, energy level, and preferences, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and happy.

Calm, mindful care for your pets

Pet care experience

Animals have been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with dogs and cats, and I’ve shared my home with beloved cats for most of my adult life. Over the years I’ve also co-habited with small and medium dogs, cared for senior pets, and supported many animals through the last gentle stages of their lives. My professional background is in environmental science (35 years), a path I chose out of love and devotion to animals, wildlife, and the natural world. Outside of work, I spent years volunteering with animals — from supporting elephants and reptiles at the Valley Zoo to caring for over 70 elephants at an orphanage in Sri Lanka. I even trained one elephant, Devi, to paint using positive reinforcement. I’ve also cared for small exotic pets, including ball pythons and a garter snake. Today, I bring all of that experience into calm, compassionate, reliable pet care for dogs, cats, and small animals. I’m gentle, observant, patient, and very attuned to the emotional needs of animals — especially seniors or those who are shy, anxious, or needing extra support. Skills & Care Abilities: Administering medications with confidence: pills, injections, liquid meds via syringe, and puffers for dogs and cats Handling senior or special-needs pets with patience and gentleness Cat nail trims Dog bathing and brushing; cat brushing (hairless cat bathing and grooming) Experience with freshwater and saltwater aquariums Comfortable with reptiles and other small animals Master Gardener/Composter certified (City of Edmonton) — happy to care for plants, yards, and gardens as well Calm, confident, experienced around all animal personalities Clear communication and daily updates

Bodhi (Lori) provided care in my home on several occasions over the past couple of years. My pets were always happy and well cared for and my home and yard meticulously cared for. She is calm and mature and my cat at dog both instantly responded well around her. She is friendly and kept me up to date with photos by text while I was away and sometimes we even FaceTimed with our dear pets. I highly recommend her for your pet care needs.
