I have been pet and house sitting for nearly 20 years. My experience includes working with dogs of all sizes and cats. I have volunteered at a few humane societies and have fostered several animals. Schedule
I work as a university professor in Charlotte. As a result, my schedule is very flexible. Since I am centrally located in Charlotte and have my own transportation, accommodating pets day time needs is no issue. Night time visits are also not an issue including weekends. Please keep in mind that I do have a full time job and pets of my own so if housesitting, I cannot provide all day/constant care.

As a pet owner and long time pet sitter, understanding the animal is very important to me and I never pressure them to interact with me. I am very respectful of the schedule and routine you have in place with your pet and I do my best to mirror that. Communication is also very important to me prior to booking and during the stay. I know that it is nerve wracking to leave pets at home so I like to provide detailed updates and photos to help. The safety and well-being of your pets is very important.

A typical day
I love to let the animal dictate what we will be doing because it is important that they are stimulated both mentally and physically. If the dog likes to play ball, we will do that. If the dog likes to go for walks to take in the scents, we will do that. I enjoy taking dogs to dog parks (as long as they are friendly and it is approved by their human) and I love knowing what their favorite activities are so I can try to keep their routine. If I am sitting for a cat, I also let them dictate what we will be doing. That can include things like playing with a favorite toy, brushing, pets or even indulging in a treat or two.

- I like to know if a dog is friendly with other dogs and/or other humans. I have experience with dogs that exhibit leash aggression but it helps to know if I need to be more alert. I also like to know what toys the dog likes and if the dog has any special needs, allergies and takes medications. If I am watching a cat, I would like to know their favorite hiding places.
